Butterflies in the Garden, Papillon Potpourri

I spent some time in my gardens last week pulling the weeds that seem to grow from nowhere! My garden is my second happy place, my stamp studio ranks number one. I love listening to the birds &watching the butterflies in my garden this time of year, how about you? I find it so relaxing watching them flutter weightlessly from flower to flower as if they were moving to a melody. I am so happy to also see more bees in the garden this year than last and discovered that our neighbor behind us is a bee keeper! I will be planting more flowers next year to attract them too! I was so happy to see several bee keepers in the area but really happy to find one in our backyard. I use raw honey as a sweetener and visit our towns Farmers Market to purchase local honey  several times a year.

Spending time in the garden inspired me to create a card with our Papillon Potpourri & Everything Eleanor stamp sets. Another look at one of the patterns in our English Garden Designer Series paper brought me back to the garden. This card uses a basic card layout and is so simple to create.

Papillon Potpourri imageI used Blushing Bride, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, and Marina Mist for my color palette. The Modern Mosaic embossing folder gave the feel of a garden trellis. The “Hello” comes from the Endless Birthday Wishes set, this set is a must! If it isn’t on your Wish List yet be sure to put it on it because I am finding it a go to set for sayings.

I hope you spend some time outdoors enjoying watching butterflies in the gardens around you. I know you will find it relaxing and inspiring.

Hexagon Hive & Build A Birthday – Love this card!

Just like you, my monthly hostess club loves different ideas for their stamping supplies.  They have been asking me for an idea using the Hexagon Hive Thinlit in a way besides as a bee hive or soccer ball.

Have you ever had one of those cards that you design and say,” It’s ok. Then later fall in love with it?” This is one of those.

To be honest, when I first made it I thought, ” This card is OK. Not WOW! Just OK.”

I had to run upstairs to let Maxx out and when I came back to the card I thought,” I really like this card!”  When I shared how to make the card at club, I told them,” I really love this card!” And I do.

I designed this card using the Build A Birthday stamp set and the Hexagon Hive embossing folder, just for them. I used Sahara Sand as the card base and Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Soft Sky & Crushed Curry inks.

I wanted to share this card with you but also wanted to share how easy and fun it is to make. So, I made this video. For you!

Now, I am sure you are saying, “I love that card!” too.

For some reason the Sahara Sand brings out the brightness, yet softness of this color combination. The small details add to the wow factor and I know the person receiving this card will also love it.

We would love to have you join us as I share tips and ideas like this each month.

Flower Shop & Thoughts & Prayers

Needing to create a sympathy card for one of the swaps I participated in at convention last week I went to the Flower Shop (130939) and Thoughts & Prayers (128751) stamp sets. If you want a card that can be easily duplicated in minutes, for any occasion, this is a card for you!

I love all the patterns in the English Garden Designer Series paper (138440) and chose the green leaf patterned paper for this card. I also gravitated towards my “go to” Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper (133704) to add some earthiness to the card. The card base is Old Olive with the tree branches from Thoughts & Prayers stamped in Mellow Moss.Wanting a pop of color, I chose the outline flower from the Flower Shop stamp set & water colored it using my Aqua Painter (103954) and Calypso Coral ink pad (126983) for a softness to the pop.

Flower Shop image,Thoughts & Prayers image

The banner was created using the Triple Banner Punch (138292) and Woodgrain embossing folder (127821). The leaves and flowers were added to the label using Old Olive ink and only part of the stamp from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set. Did you notice the Burlap Ribbon (132140) at the bottom? I cut the ribbon in 1/2 lengthwise and raveled it a bit. Let’s not waste those fibers! I added them behind the flower and I am loving this card! Don’t you just love it when everything just fits?

Sprinkles of Life basket of flowers card

This is just one of an assortment of cards you can create with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set (139971). I needed a little pick me up the other day when I was designing the projects for this month’s hostess clubs. I immediately went to the Sprinkles of Life set, look at all the stamps you get in this set!

So many possibilities. . .

sprinkles of life

This is a folded corner card.

I don’t want you to start hyper-ventilating when I give you this next bit of news . . .

there is a coordinating punch to make cutting out all those images a snap!

This Tree Builder Punch (138295) is the bomb!!

I know, you just can’t contain yourself  (me either!). This was on my pre-order ( as a demonstrator we get to order some items early!) and unfortunately I couldn’t play with it until this week~

after I removed most of the plastic hanging all over everywhere in multiple layers. I have chimney soot all over everything. I can’t imagine what everything would look like if I didn’t put the plastic up. In case you haven’t heard, my fridge went out 7 weeks ago and we have been living out of coolers ever since. Most people would go out and purchase a new fridge, but oh no, we aren’t on of the most. My husband took it as a sign that we shouldn’t wait until the weather turned nice to start the kitchen renovation- the time was now.

We are through the chimney soot, the drywall dust and the wood floor installation, and sanding of the old. Cabinets are here and beiing installed this weekend so we tell ourselves we have turned the corner. I sure hope so cause I am so tired of cleaning the grime just to have another layer the next week.

Do you think it is safe to remove the remaining plastic and start wiping EVERYTHING off??

Life sure has given me lots of sprinkles lately!

Remember, if you live in the U.S. and are not currently working with a demonstrator I would love to send you a catalog and earn your business.

Retiring Stamps Review- Mosaic Madness

In my posts named Retiring Stamps Review I will be sharing  cards and projects with some of the sets and products that are retiring on June 2,2015. If you’d like to see some more samples, be sure to visit the Pinterest Board Stampin’ Up! has put together at: Retiring Sample Board on Pinterest

I was so happy when I came across this photo! We made this card in a class a while back in which I was inspired by a card I found on Pinterest a while back. I lost the gals name so if this was a card you posted please let me know so I can give you credit.

I used Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, and Whisper White for my color palette. I did a few other cards and used these color palettes; Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, & Smokey Slate, Whisper White, Soft Suede, & Calypso Coral. Each one became my favorite as I finished them. I also used the Mosaic embossing folder & Mosaic punch. Don’t you just love the use of the Mosaic punch to create the bottom border? I just love the on-trend feel the feathers give this card! Do you get a southwest/boho feel when you see it?

1mosaicmadness

As I look at this photo I realized it was one without Rhinestone Jewels. You can give this card some bling by adding Rhinestone Jewels in a few different ways: to the top border, to the top of the feathers & on the Mosaic piece that surrounds the verse or 3 scattered on the embossed background. All look fabulous!!

Bouncing Baby Bumble Bee Boy

Expecting a baby girl, a friend was surprised when the doctor said, “Congratulations, you have a beautiful bouncing baby boy!” I wanted to make a special card for her & drew inspiration from a card that Shelli shared with us at Leadership Conference. The Baby Bumble Bee stamp set (#137153) holds a special place in my heart and is the focus of this card.Baby Bumblebee image Isn’t he a cutie? When Shelli cut the wings off the bee to create a baby it was one of those “duh” moments! I used the Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper (#137782) for a snuggly blanket, the circle mat and banner.

Just a sweet card for a sweet bouncing baby boy!

The March Fab Five Class was a big hit! Attendees got to create five fabulous birthday cards with lots of added embellishments & layers specialty papers. I love listening to the gals as they oooo and aaaaawww with each card. I can’t say that any one card was the favorite but I know this was near the top of the list. I did add a little change on this card when they created it~ we changed out the Silver Dazzling Details dots to a strip of mini Rhinestone Jewels.

1bigday4Our Silver Foil paper goes so nicely with our silver foil vellum.

1bigday5

Adding our Silver Dazzling Details to the frosting takes the cake….

Everyone was hyper-ventilating when they left my March Fab Five class!

A Happy Thing in Pink Pirouette or Soft Sky~ which do you prefer?

I just can’t decide, which of these 2 cards using the Sale-A-Bration stamp set, “A Happy Thing” do you prefer? Pink Pirouette or Soft Sky?

I participated in a few swaps for Leadership Conference in January and these were 2 of the cards I created for two of the swaps. The first time I set eyes on this stamp set I imagined this card.  I really loved the Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede card I did until I did the Soft Sky and Soft Suede card. I can’t decide which I like better. . .

A Happy Thing stamp set image

For this version I used our Pearl Jewels, colored them with our Crumb Cake Blendabilities for the flower centers. I colored this bird with the Crumb Cake & Pink Pirouette Blendabilities and brayered Crumb Cake ink onto the Beautiful Baroque Embossing Folder. I used a gold mini clothespin to hold the tag onto the banners.

A Happy Thing stamp set imageFor this version I used my Aqua Painter to color the bird with Soft Sky and Crumb Cake inks. I used our Rhinestone Jewels for the flower centers and on the banner for some added bling. I, again, colored the embossing folder with Crumb Cake ink. This version received a silver mini clothespin.

The A Happy Thing stamp set is found on page 19 of the Sale-A-Bration Catalog

Can you pick just one??

Celebrate Today with the Starburst Technique & Itty Bitty Epoxy Stickers

This Celebrate Today card uses the Starburst Technique and our Itty Bitty Epoxy Stickers. I was so excited when I received the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers in the mail today. I received them from my mentor, Karen Titus, for participating in a Facebook party she held for her team last Saturday. Several of us received them and were challenged to make a card and share it on our team Facebook page. I had already created this card for my Techniques and Cards Class, tonight, at Panera Bread On Rt 59 & 95th Street in Naperville. I have been debating on what to put in the center of the card and was SO excited to get these in the mail. They are perfect!! I will be sharing a tutorial video next Tuesday, March 10 on creating this card and how to do the Starburst Technique. I don’t usually share the same technique as I do in class but I just HAD to share this one! ~That’s how excited I was to get these! I had already gotten a set but colored them all with my Blendabilities, of course not one matched.

Celebrate Today with Starburst TechniqueOur Tangerine Tango & White two toned twine (135838) was another perfect touch for this card. Yee-Haw on a colored photograph

I shared this card on my video the other day to create this cute card with the Yee-Haw stamp set. I needed to make a Birthday card for a 10 year old boy and felt this photo was just screaming to be used with this set, don’t you agree?I  colored the picture with the lightest Blendability in the Cherry Cobbler assortment pack so I chose Marina Mist and Real Red cardstock for the card. I stamped the Yee-Haw and Rootin’ Tootin’ in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock. I fussy cut these out and raised them using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Yee-Haw stamp setWhen my little friend opened his card and looked at it he said,” Hey look mom! It looks like those words are exploding off the card!” Glad he liked it. As you can see, your photos can be used for cards too!

If you haven’t checked out our Photopolymer Stamp Sets recently, check them out here.

Go grab a photograph to color and order the Yee-Haw stamp set, I am sure you know a little one that would love a card that has words exploding off of it!

Be the Star Missing you

Be a star when you use the paper piecing technique with the Be the Star stamp set (w-135731) (c-135734)! You can even use this versatile technique with stamp set images that are partially outline and semi-solid too! Look at the awesome effect you get when using this star image from the Be the Star stamp set. How many of you would have combined Designer Series Paper with this image? Not many I am sure. But you can’t deny that the tiny dots in this Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper (133693)  adds (as mom would say) some oomph!

Be the Star stamp set card

  • I wanted to create a simple background so in came the Lucky Star (135817) embossing folder and our Dazzling Details (124117) to add  interest to the card base.
  • The bird and verse came from the Sweet Stuff (w-134153)(c-134156) stamp set.
  • I used our Stars Framelits(133723) to cut out the Tempting Turquoise layer in the back of the star. This framelit is usually used to cut out the star image but I wanted it as a layer. To accomplish this I “fussy” cut out the star just outside of the stamped outline so I would have the Tempting Turquoise border instead of Whisper White.
  • Love the dimension of this image!!
  • The star seems to be popping right out.

Here is a larger view of this card.
