An Easy Textured Thank You card is one of those projects you’ll reach for again and again. Thank-you cards are something we always need on hand, and this design checks all the boxes: it’s polished, cheerful, and easy to recreate with supplies you likely already have in your craft room. The mix of texture, soft coloring, and simple layering makes this card feel special without being complicated.
For today’s live project, I used the Pop-Up Petals Bundle, which is perfect for creating quick floral focal points with lots of personality. The stamped flower pot and blooms add charm, while the textured background does most of the heavy lifting design-wise.
Card Base & Layer Measurements
Let’s start with the foundation of the card. The base is Strawberry Slush cardstock, cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and folded in half for a standard A2 card. This color adds warmth and frames the card beautifully.
Next, cut a mat from Basic Black cardstock to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. This thin black layer helps ground the design and adds contrast without overpowering the softer elements.
The main panel is Basic White cardstock, cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″. This is where the texture comes in. Run this panel through the Dotted Circles 3-D Embossing Folder. The raised pattern adds instant interest and gives the card a finished, professional look while keeping the color palette clean.
An Easy Textured Thank You Card with Simple Details
This is where the fun really starts. The focal image is stamped on Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, making it ideal for coloring with Stampin’ Blends. I used the following Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs:
- Daffodil Delight
- Lemon-Lime Twist
- Strawberry Slush
- Fresh Freesia
These colors keep the card bright and cheerful without feeling busy. Once colored, punch out the image using the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch.
Behind the circle, add a simple strip of Gorgeous Grape cardstock, cut to 1/2″ x 4″. This strip breaks up the embossed background and adds another pop of color. Layer a small Designer Series Paper scrap, cut to 1″ x 3 1/2″, just above the purple strip for subtle pattern and texture.
The sentiment is stamped from the Pop-Up Petals Bundle and layered over the strip, tying everything together without covering up the embossing.
Why This Design Works
What makes this card so effective is balance. The textured background replaces the need for busy patterned paper. The circle focal point draws your eye to the center, while the horizontal strip grounds the design and keeps it from feeling too “floaty.”
This layout is also incredibly flexible. You can:
- Swap out the sentiment for birthdays or thinking-of-you cards
- Change the color palette to match your stash
- Use a different embossing folder for a whole new look
It’s a great reminder that you don’t need complicated techniques to create a card that feels finished and thoughtful.
