A quick card using the Sailing Home stamp set with lots of texture is sends me down memory lane. I love going to the lake or ocean and relax by watching the sailboats just float along in the breeze. I have always been amazed on how people figure out how to have these beauties go where they want them to. It is one of my dreams to take a sailboat ride one day.
I wanted to create the feeling and memories I hold in my head when watching the sailboats sailing away.
A simple color palette helps to achieve a calming feel to this card. I closed my eyes and imagined myself sitting on the beach and began to create my card.
Wanting to have the sailboat highlighted, I mounted it onto a Balmy Blue circle. The Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder (152718) created the effect of the ripples in the water as the sailboat coasts through it. I stamped the sailboat image in Night of Navy ink and cut it out using the coordinating die. Flipping through the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack (#152494) I thought that this pattern looked like wave swells in the ocean. If you wanted to add even more texture to this DSP you could use some of our Shimmery White Embossing Paste (145645). Just use one of the knives and swipe it on in the direction of the curves in the paper.
Everything is better in three’s. I added a Night of Navy circle, also embossed and the compass stamped in Night of Navy. This filled the left side of the card just the way I wanted it to. The right side of my card needed something for balance, especially the upper right corner. The trio of seagulls/birds fit the bill. I could have stopped here but I did want my sentiment on the front.
By placing the Thanks onto a piece of Whisper White and then layering it onto the banner die was perfect.
