Turning One Hundred is a big deal, don’t you think? We decided to shower one of my stamping friend’s grandmother, who is turning 100, with hand-made cards.
As I sat down to create my card I began to think of all the things this lady has seen in her life time. Forty-Four men have been president. In 1930, the Empire State Building was built. There have been several wars, and women began working in factories and have employment opportunities today that I am sure she would never imagine.
This wonderful woman has seen her family grow and bring her much joy in her lifetime. My card needs to be special.
I began thinking of what kind of card my grandmother’s would love to receive if they had lived to be one-hundred. Often talking about working in the yard, growing their own vegetables and their love of flowers helped me with my decision.
A bouquet of pink roses is my choice, because turning one hundred is a big deal!
A pink rose: Indicates happiness. I am sure my friend’s grandmother is happy to be one-hundred so I chose our new In-Color, Polished Pink .(This color isn’t too dark or too light), but just right to put a smile on her face!
Filled with an assortment an assortment of rose images, I chose our True Love Designer Series Paper. I chose one of the patterns and colored the roses with my Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends. Coloring with these alcohol markers is quick and easy with awesome results. I placed the rose images on the front and inside of this special card after coloring and fussy cutting the roses. The polka dots are from the same package of paper which is in our Jan-June Catalog.
As you can see this is a special fold card that opens vertically. Not coloring the same paper on the bottom of portion helps the focal image pop. What girl doesn’t love diamonds? I just had to add some of our Rhinestone Jewels.
Here is a picture of the inside of the card. I chose our Happy Thoughts stamp set which has verses for the front and inside of your cards.
