Remember the joy of discovering new crafting techniques in your youth? I recently revisited one from my Junior High days, and it was the perfect touch for this festive snowman card. Using the Filled with Cheer stamp set (164362), I am revisiting a craft from my youth. Deciding to cut out the images and adding extra layers of dimension that truly brings this winter scene to life.
Starting with a Pool Party card base, I layered it with a Balmy Blue mat. Next, I using the So Swirly 3-D Embossing Folder (163791) For more texture and dimension. This swirling pattern gives the card a sense of motion. I imagine it’s almost like a gust of winter wind swirling around our cheerful scene. Enhancing the design further, I added a strip of Old Olive cardstock which is embossed with the Dotted Circles folder (163789). This layer adds a touch of warmth to the cool tones of the card. I love how the dots seem to dance around the circle die from the Spotlight On Nature Dies (163580).
Remember the joy of your youth when you bring things you learned to today’s projects!
The real star of this project is the image itself. After stamping the snowman, tree, and sled, I stamped the image a second time. I carefully cut out the snowman and tree on one of the stamped images. I used my Stampin’ Blends to add color to the images. The snowman’s scarf is the earthy tone of Highland Heather. The tree is a lush green with bright red ornaments. And the sled has a classic wooden hue accented with a red steering handle. By layering the cut-out images in multiple layers, the scene gains a three-dimensional effect. This sure to catch the eye of anyone who receives this card.
In this photo you can see all the layers.
This card is a wonderful example of how revisiting old techniques can breathe new life into your projects. If you’re curious to see how it all comes together, check out my YouTube video where I walk you through the entire process step-by-step. This project is a fun and rewarding way to bring some extra cheer to your cards.
