How to make a Thank You Card

How to Make a Thank You Card that’s Bold with Scraps & Circles.

If your scrap bin is starting to overflow (no shame—mine has its own zip code), this card is your sign to use it up! Today, we’re taking bold, colorful cardstock scraps and transforming them into a playful thank-you card that’s loud, layered, and anything but boring.

Start with a Basic White card base. It gives all those colors a clean background to shine against. Then grab a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic Black cardstock—because nothing makes bright colors pop like a dramatic backdrop.

Next, go wild with your scraps. I used circles of all sizes—die cuts, punches, or whatever shape your scissors feel like creating today. Each circle got the embossing treatment for texture, because flat paper is for grocery lists, not gratitude.

I added a bright stitched square frame just to corral the chaos a little. Then came the star: the bold “THANK” from the Layered Thoughts stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. The smaller “you” tucks underneath on a tiny strip of white cardstock—polished, but with personality.

How to Make a Thank You: Let the Scraps Do the Talking

Here’s the fun part—there’s no wrong way to arrange this layout. Just pile on the circles, rotate a few, overlap with wild abandon, and boom—you’ve got a dynamic design that looks intentional (even if it totally wasn’t).

Want more drama? Toss in a few embellishments. Or don’t! This card stands strong with just the bold colors and texture.

This layout is perfect for stash-busting and batch-making. Switch up the sentiment or use this same idea for birthdays, congrats, or just-because cards. It’s playful, flexible, and a whole lot of fun to make.
