Stamparatus, the tool you’ve been waiting for!

Stamparatus, positioning tool

I am happy to let you know that I am one of 2000 Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that helped to design the Stamparatus, the tool you’ve been waiting for! As part of the LDL Team, we are sworn not to share anything we work on or hear about. Believe me, it was hard not to be able to tell you about the Stamparatus these past 4 years. Yes, it took 4 years to design & test this amazing positioning tool. We wanted to get it right and to give you the best on the market. I. like you have watched and wanted to get a positioning tool but am so happy I held out, you will ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!! I am loving the unique “hinge stamping” technique you can accomplish on it. Watch the video below to see how you can position 4 different stamps at one time!!!!

Now that you’ve watched the video, leave me a comment below to let me know what you think.

Here is the information on how you can reserve yours so you can be one of the first to use the Stamparatus.

With the launch of this tool, we’re trying something different: testing a new reservation system. It acts like a true preorder: you reserve your spot and we guarantee shipment as soon as the product arrives in our warehouse. Demonstrators and customers will place reservations and receive their product at the same time. This system will allow us to get the product to market as soon as possible while avoiding backorders and efficiently managing inventory.

  • Reservation quantities are while supplies last.
  • Limit is 1 tool per customer per reservation window.
  • Customers may participate in multiple reservation windows (order 1 per window).
  • In order to reserve your Stamparatus, you are required to provide your credit card information.
  • Credit cards will not be charged until the Stamparatus ships from our facility. When you close your order, be sure to verify that your credit card and shipping information is correct.
  • Reservation Windows Available to Ship
    November 16–30, 2017 Approx. February 1, 2018
    December 5–30, 2017 Approx. March 19, 2018
    January 15–30, 2018 Approx. April 15, 2018

I will be posting details on how to reserve your on November 15th, the day before the reservation period begins! (It will not work until the 16th)

Be sure to leave a comment below and let me know if you are as excited as I am!

Country Livin’ makes a great masculine themed card, SBTD October Blog Hop

Masculine themed cards seem to be tough for most people and that is why we chose it for our SBTD theme this month. To get your juices flowing I recommend starting with a stamp set like Country Livin’  and then move on to other sets you have. By using more masculine papers you will be amazed at what you will soon be creating!

This is exactly what I did when creating for this months’ blog hop. Country Livin’ has been on my shelf for about 3 months and this is the first time I took it out to play. I needed a masculine card for someone who loves to hunt so I looked through my papers to see what I had. I thought of flannel and bright orange because that is what my father-in-law used to wear when he would go out. Now to find what I have that would fit either of these two criteria. You will find this pattern in the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (#144621) but it isn’t red & black. This is what it looks like,  white & black ( the trend for this holiday season). I wanted to make it look like a flannel shirt so I grabbed my sponge brayer and used it to layer Real Red ink over the paper. What a difference~it even looks like real flannel!!

I paired the flannel look with the truck from the Country Livin’ set. I decided to give my new Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers a try to color the image. I colored the entire image and background with them & just love how it turned out! It was so easy to get the effect I was looking for with these new markers. I know exactly what you are thinking, “Where can I find these Stampin’ Blends?” You will be able to order them on November 1st!  If you would like to try to win a whole set of the Stampin’ Blends, head over to my Facebook Page. As a demonstrator I was able to order them early to begin playing with them.

It is hard to tell from the photo but the sky isn’t solid but looks like it has fluffy clouds throughout it. I finished the card off by taking a black Sharpie marker and coloring 3 small Perfect White Accents. I know the recipient is going to love this card.

Once I got going I couldn’t stop so I made a second masculine card using the Up,Up, & Away stamp set and Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper(#144629), also from the Holiday Catalog. I was thinking of using Night of Navy with the Lemon Lime Twist when starting this card but switched to Basic Black after choosing my Designer Series Paper.

As you can see, once you get going on creating masculine cards it can be quite fun!

Sprinkles of Life leftovers

Continuing on my journey through my leftovers I came across these leftover packets and remembered I used the Sprinkles of Life stamp set but couldn’t remember the layout. The designer series paper has since retired but they are already cut to size so I was determined to figure a card with all the pieces. I began by separating all the pieces and then chose the Lots of Love stamp set to use. By the way, you can save 15% on this stamp set through October 10th as part of National Card Making Day. The colors I had to work with were, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, and Calypso Coral. I pulled out my Petal Burst embossing folder to give texture to the Whisper White mat. This is the card I came up with.

The packets that I found also had different colored card bases which I remembered used the colors I used on the original card. I felt the background could use a pop of color but I had already embossed it so I decided to leave it. I then remembered that the Sprinkles of Life card had polka dots as a background that I made with sponge daubers in the 3 colors. I started digging through my samples and I found it!

It is a bit cheerier ( is that a word?) and does have some of the pieces I didn’t use on this leftovers card, maybe I should add a tiny Daffodil Delight banner coming from the right side of the smaller mat, what do you think?

I have been having fun going through my leftovers and have come across a stack of 1×3 strips of holiday designer series paper from last year. I’m going to see what I can pull together to share with you on Monday.

While both of the cards I shared with you today use the same colors they have a totally different feel to them. It was fun playing with my Sprinkles of Life leftovers and hope you are enjoying seeing what I come up with.

Don’t forget to check out our SPECIALS BY CLICKING THIS LINK!

What do you do with your leftovers?

You are cleaning your work craft space and you find leftovers. These are pieces that you cut for projects but didn’t use. What do you do with them? You have several choices; First, you could separate all the cardstock and put the pieces with your scraps. You could try to figure out what your original project looked like and duplicate them to help fill your stash of cards. You could throw them away- oh no! Don’t do that! Or, you could do what I did, take the pieces and create cards with new sets giving these leftovers  new life.

Over the next few days I will share some ideas that I come up with using leftover pieces I have found when cleaning out my stamp studio yesterday. I will have extra project pieces from my classes and events so I stick them into a leftover bin. As you could imagine, this bin is currently spilling over the sides of the bin. Time to decide what to do with these pieces!

Before I continue, are you on my V.I.P. mailing list? If not, you’re going to want to sign up today because I have begun my 12 Weeks of Christmas projects emails. Don’t let the holidays sneak up on you! I will help you prepare for them by sending you card, gift, gift tags & packaging ideas over the next 12 weeks. Just sign up by clicking “Join my Publication VIP List” in the left hand column.

Now, onto the projects. . . . This first group of leftovers were found together in envelopes making it easier to put the cards together. The Whisper White layer had already been embossed using our stars embossing folder. The Real Red, Daffodil Delight, and Bermuda Bay stars, and Whisper White label had been pre-punched. The Real Red label had also been cut out using the Chalk Talk Framelits. Many of the items used for this card were recently retired from our 2016-2017 Annual Catalog. My memory recalled (somewhat) what the original card looked like so all I had to do was choose a stamp set or two to finish the card. My choice(s)?

Bella & Friends was my first go-to set. I quickly water colored the pup using Crumb Cake, Real Red & Bermuda Bay inks and my Aqua Painter. I decided to make two cards with this cute guy.

Bella & Friends

Pretty Kitty was my second choice. I couldn’t leave out my cat lovers! She is colored using Smokey Slate, Pink Pirouette & Real Red inks and Aqua Painter.

The boat from the Swirly Scribbles stamp set fit just right onto the label. I just love the solid, bold images of this two step stamp.  This card lends itself to any occasions, birthday, baby, congratulations, way to go, to name a few.

I finished the cards up and started digging into my next group of leftovers when I found my original card!

I guess this old gals memory isn’t too bad, I was pretty much on mark with duplicating it, don’t you think? These cards came together quickly, after all, it was all cut, punched, and embossed for me!

Do you have leftover pieces that you need to clear out? I challenge you to take those pieces and create a card or two from them. I am sure you will be surprised at what you come up with when using up your leftovers.

Painted Harvest Card in non-traditional colors

This Painted Harvest card is made in a color combination that is non-traditional to sunflowers. The Painted Harvest Bundle was my Stamp of The Month which means I featured projects using it in all my classes this month. I held several 3/$10 Card Classes on the Road along with the 5/$20 classes in my studio All cards used the Painted Harvest stamp set showing its versatility. I included at least one project from this bundle in my Birthday 6/$25, Framed Art Sampler, and Hostess Clubs.

I wasn’t sure how this particular card would be received because of the color combination of Bermuda Bay, Dapper Denim, & Soft Sky. Not that the combination isn’t a great one, just that you probably wouldn’t think of using it with this particular set.

I was jumping for joy & happy to let you know that everyone LOVED it!! WOO! HOO!

What do you think?

It’s gorgeous isn’t it?

Here is a close up of the flower

My customers also love to (as they say), “Learn what the heck to do with washi tape.” This card will help you use up those smaller pieces left on the roll. Don’t worry about cutting the ends, just tear them for this look!

I probably could have used this card for our SBTD Blog Hop this past weekend but wanted to share it with those taking my classes. ( I was actually nervous on what people would think of the color combination). If you missed our Hop you can check it out here.

This is what you get when you purchase the Painted Harvest Bundle.

The gorgeous Painted Harvest stamp set that includes a variety of 13 photopolymer stamps that feature the 2-Step Style.

At Home with You Bundle SBTD Hop 9/2017

The At Home with You and Colorful Seasons Bundles were shouting my name as the morning air is crisp and and the fall colors are beginning to show earlier than normal this year. I felt these bundles were perfect for this month’s SBTD Blog Hop Theme, Leaves and Trees. We are 12 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world bringing you assorted projects each month. Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this post to watch a video about the At Home With You Bundle!

At Home with You Bundle #145351
Colorful Seasons Bundle #145348

My card base is Very Vanilla cut to 5 1/4″ x 8″ and then scored at 4″. I used the leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set to create a background paper for the 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ paper strip. The colors I used for the leaves are Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Crushed Curry and Early Espresso for the veins. I backed this strip with a piece of 2″ x 5 1/4″ Early Espresso cardstock.

I felt the card needed more texture so I added the splatter image from Swirly Bird in Crushed Curry along the tip edge of the card and opposite corners of the image mat. The bouquet of sunflowers in the bucket from the At Home with You Bundle was my inspiration for my card and make the perfect focal point. Sunflowers are my favorite fall flower and I continued the color theme when water coloring them. The bucket is colored using Crumb Cake for the bucket and Smokey Slate for the metal rings. I added a bit of sparkle by adding Clear Wink of Stella to the rings. I then cut the image out using the Seasonal Layer Thinlit Dies, gotta love thilits! I then popped the image up with our new Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I felt the image needed grounding so I cut a branch from Early Espresso by using the die from the Colorful Seasons Bundle. The Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive 1/4″ Stitch Ribbon are a perfect touch.

The verse I chose is also one from the Colorful Seasons stamp set however, the At Home with You set also has verses that could be used for this card that can be used for an assortment of fall occasions.

Festive Phrases for the Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop

I am excited to bring you a  project using the Festive Phrases Stamp Set for our Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop this month. We are 12 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators bringing you an assortment of 12 projects the third Saturday each month. This month our theme is our 2017 Holiday Catalog that you may purchase from beginning September 1st.

Have you ever turned the page and fell in love with a stamp set? Well, that’s what happened when I saw the Festive Phrases set, especially the silly little elf hiding behind the Happy Holidays sign! Oh my gosh, I am simply in love with him and have a few other ideas up my sleeve.

For this card I went to the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper. I just love that you can use this paper for projects from elegant to rustic and just plain fun.

It might be hard to tell, but I added an illusion of snow on the top of “Happy Holidays” by running Wink of Stella across the top.

I looped our Cherry Cobbler Stitched Ribbon and tucked it on the side of the top matt.

Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shapes for accents on the upper right corner completed the look.I am sure you are getting excited to see the new 2017 Holiday Catalog while browsing through our samples. Which items will be at the top of your wish list? I hope you choose the Festive Phrases as one of your must haves! If you aren’t currently working with a demonstrator and would like your own copy, just comment and I will contact you to send one your way.

Now, let’s get back to the card. . . .

The bundle consists of the Carols of Christmas stamp set and The Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies. and will be available for you to purchase on August 1.  These thinlits dies are sure to be one of your favorites in turning ordinary cards into extraordinary! I can see using these on a variety of cards from anniversary to  the young at heart and every occasion in between. (almost made it from a to z!) They will also be great to use in your memory albums; as frames for pictures, page edges, and amazing page and pocket embellishments.

The card I am sharing today has a few quick & fun techniques that bring it to a simple but WOW card.

Let’s start by making the background by using the sponge and spritz technique. Using Whisper White cardstock as a base, I masked off the bottom to create snow drifts and the edges to create a white border. I then sponged Soft Sky from the bottom to about midway to the top. Next I sponged Night of Navy to the top of the card overlapping the Soft Sky a bit so they blend seamlessly. Using our Spritz Sprayer I spritzed water over the entire piece & let it dry to create depth in the sky.

I created the top by cutting an edge after using the moon and star thinlit from Night of Navy. I mounted this onto Whisper White and trimmed it to match the Night of Navy.

I cut the trees from Always Artichoke cardstock. Adding our embossing paste to create snow  is added dimension and texture. In some areas it even looks like it is melting!

I decided to add some Silver Metallic Thread behind the trees for added glitz and simulating the glow from the moon.

I assembled the card by layering the Whisper White onto Night of Navy and then a Soft Sky card base. I added the top cut from the Cardfront Thinlits. Next, I embossed the “PEACE” in sliver by omitting the “On Earth”, added the trees using our new Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, and stamped the deer in Soft Suede ink.

Wanting a bit more glitz, I used my Wink Of Stella on the cut outs at the top and then added “Stella Snow” (as I call it) by tapping the Wink of Stella pen against my finger to add specks over the card..

I love customizing the inside of cards also. For this one I sponged the edges using both, Soft Sky and Night of Navy inks.

I used the negative from my trees to sponge a few using Always Artichoke ink.

You probably have noticed I haven’t put a verse on the inside yet, I will do this when I go to send this card as I like to personalize it.

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek of the Carols of Christmas Bundle. This stamp set is one of two I am featuring in this month’s Christmas Card Class so be sure to visit my Calendar of Events for more information.

A great card for your child’s teacher.

With all the last minute activities going on at the end of the year I want to help you show your appreciation with a great card for your child’s teacher. You can easily make this card or have your child help you. This card can be used for any friend but I thought the primary colors made it perfect for that favorite teacher.  I used a few retiring stamp sets, Love & Affection (141545 )  for the verse and flowers, and Papillon Potpourri (123759) with coordinating punch for the butterfly. The You’ve Got This set (139575) made for the perfect sky background.  The flower stems and leaves were doodled using a Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker. I created the tree with our Tree Builder Punch (138295 ) and Layering Ovals Thinlits(141706).

I’m not sure about you but I just love a simple card that has such cuteness like this one! I did a Facebook Live FREE Class on how to make this card. You can watch it here. You will also need to watch part 2 for the completed card. I did add the colored pearl jewels and sponged around the oval with Emerald Envy ink after the video ended. As you watch the class you will see I tried a few different items on the tree, I ended up coloring the pearls (119247) with a red Sharpie marker. I love how it turned out, don’t you?

The Love & Affection  and  The Papillon Potpourri       stamp sets are retiring so you will want to be sure to order them no later than May 22nd because after that they will only be available while supplies last.

Now that you have a great card, filled with cuteness, for your child’s teacher all you need to do is find a little gift  just as sweet!
