A Gate-fold Card with a surprise

I created a gate-fold card with a surprise element to it. Do you love doing special fold cards but are looking for something new? When looking to change up things I will take time to sit and look at different cards then I begin switching things up.

It may surprise you at what you can come up with when you take an element from one card and combine it with another. I remembered making a mini card, had it opening in one direction, then adding it to a standard card base which opened in the opposite direction of the mini. Walla! A new card design!

I had made a swap card with a layout I loved. It was simple and easy to change up. The first thing I did was switch the color combination. I originally used the traditional red and green Christmas combination and switched it to blues.

This gave me the opportunity to change the card from a holiday card to a winter one! This card will now work for a birthday, hello, friend and any other winter theme I am in need of.

Now how I came up with my gate-fold card with a surprise.

The original card opens like a standard card. I decided to make it into a gate-fold. By taking the mat and making it twice as wide I could turn it into a mini card. I would try to adhere it to the left side and had the Designer Series Paper strip on the right side. I gave it a try. . . let’s see how it turned out by watching the Facebook Live where I put my idea all together!

Well, what do you think? Is it a success? I can picture creating this card with different stamp sets and an assortment of Designer Series Paper strips.

I have used the Gnome For the Holidays (#153322) stamp set for today’s project share. Did you catch the tip I shared? How to change up the images to be used for more than just the holidays. I hope you enjoyed it.

Here’s the card I did for a swap that inspired this gatefold surprise. This is a basic card, not a gatefold card. Can you see how simple it was to transform it?

This card is not a gatefold card with a surprise. #gnomefortheholidayscard
