A touch of Melon Mambo was all this card needed to bring it to where I wanted it. A birthday card that was elegant and fitting for a 30 year old. I immediately went to my Neutrals Paper Stack Designer Series papers to begin this card. Basic Black, Very Vanilla, a touch of silver glitz & glimmer with a pop of Melon Mambo. Now I needed to put these together so they would appeal to someone that is 30.
I wanted the base of the card to be Basic Black. Time for my favorite paper saving idea to teach! Cut your card base (Very Vanilla)to measure 5 1/4″ x 8″, fold in 1/2. Now cut a mat to measure 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ for your card base to adhere to. Now it appears that your card is Basic Black with the Very Vanilla layered on the front. This solves 2 issues:1- when wanting a dark card base you don’t need to find a gel pen to sign your name & 2- you can get 4 cards out of 1 sheet of colored cardstock! I wanted to make a slim silver detail with our silver glimmer paper so I grabbed our decorative label punch to add a decorative strip for more interest. This detail needed to pop, add Basic Black to the front and the back. That did it!
Ok need to stamp Happy Birthday in the lower left hand corner- could have used Basic Black but let’s bring it up a notch and use Melon Mambo! Oooooooooo, I like! Still needs something…. Went to my Brights Paper Stack and punched a butterfly out of one of the Melon Mambo patterns. Still not right. Punch a smaller butterfly to layer on top of the Melon Mambo fo added interest. Still needs more, 1 medium and 2 small rhinestone jewels to create the butterfly’s body. That’s it! No more needed for this card.
Til we meet again,
