SBTD are casing projects from our catalogs this month

Have you ever sat down to create some cards or a project but just sit and stare? Your mind is blank. You are looking for your creative juices but you’re stuck! Take a hint from this month’s Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop Theme, “Case a project from the catalogs.”

My clients and I love the inspiration our catalogs give us and find that our creative juices start flowing while casing a project from one of them. In fact, I often find myself “tweaking” the project I am copying with a few spins of my own and then I am off to creating more projects in no time.

For this month’s hop I chose to copy a project from our 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. This card can be found on page 125 and uses the Bee Thankful stamp set. You will find two cards using this set on the page and I chose the one on the Berry Burst cardstock.

This card was so much fun to copy and took a little patience in creating the ink wash in the letters. To achieve the look I started by coloring the letters lightly using Berry Burst ink and my Aqua Painter. I deepened the ink in layers, letting the ink dry a bit before appyling the next layer of ink. I applied Old Olive ink for the leaves using my Aqua Painter. The bee was colored using the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker.

I love the scalloped edges and used the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper (146907) for them. This Specialty Paper is gorgeous! One thing that I love about this Specialty paper is that it is white on one side and vanilla on the other. . . . . . Watch for another card using it this next week.

I did have to vary a little when casing this card. I didn’t have the Old Olive 1/4″ Sheer Ribbon that was used in the book so I substituted it with our 1/8″ Pineapple Punch Ribbon (146953)
