You sit down to make a card and are wondering where you should look for inspiration? Personally, I will begin by flipping through the pages of our Stampin’ Up! catalog. I look for color combinations, layouts, and stamp sets. I then will begin with one of those three and soon I am creating my own creation.
I am sharing a card using the To A WIld Rose (#149452) found on page 15 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. My inspiration for this card began with the card found on the bottom of the same page.
Don’t forget, when you are looking for inspiration, Change the color pallette to achieve a different look.
I wanted a more of a summer look so I changed the color from the Blackberry Bliss to Calypso Coral . I used a Stampin’ Sponge Brayer to create my background a bit softer than the one in the inspiration photo. I changed up the Calypso Coral mat by rubbing my Whisper White Ink Pad (147277) onto the Pinwood Planks (152320) embossing folder before running it through my die machine.
I loved the Gold embossing details of the inspiration card. I tend to use silver more but the gold added that touch of warmth my card needed. I stamped the leaf image in Just Jade then used my Blender pen to draw the color into the white spaces. Another soft touch! Cutting the rose and leaves was made super easy when I used the coordinating Wild Rose Dies (149547). I was able to position the leaves by cutting a few apart from the die cut pieces.
I found that when I cut my Whisper White layer and had finished braying on the Calyso Coral ink and doing the Gold Embossing my piece was a little too big to fit. I trimmed off about 1/8″ of it and added it to the inside of the card.
I hope the next time you are looking for inspiration that you pick up your Stampin’ Up! catalog. If you need a catalog and are not currently working with a demonstrator please let me know and I will send one your way!
