Valentines Day – are you ready? I am just about done, but need to create a few more cards to send. One is a boy-themed Valentine. My grandson is getting older and told me he didn’t want a, “mushy card”.
Hunter loves the cards I send him. I will see them tucked away with his other treasures, so they don’t end up in the garbage. I love that he realizes I make them just for him. He has always loved anything having to do with construction themes and trucks. He does still enjoy dinosaurs and animals. I have previously made him Valentine’s with those themes. He recently told me he liked gnomes and trolls.
Bingo!
I just received my order with the Friendly Gnomes stamp set included. This set has fourteen adorable images and sentiments. He will love the gnome holding a heart. I know that he will aslo love the bird and squirrel so they will be on his card.
Valentines Day card that has a boy theme is actually a lot easier than you may think.
I chose a Balmy Blue base and a strip of the blue striped patterned paper from the Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper. My colors of choice are; Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake, Parakeet Party, & Sweet Sorbet. By keeping the colors bright and basic helps with a boy-themed Valentine. Using my Stampin’ Blends in these colors to color the images made coloring quick.
I found a tiny strip of paper that had white hearts on it, from the same pack. I also had a piece of Basic White, cut from one of the Desert Details Dies. Both of these pieces were left over from a previous project.
I cut the front of the card shorter by 1- 1/4″ and adhered the striped paper to the bottom of the inside of the card. This way it peeks to the front. The heart strip was adhered along the bottom edge of the card front.
Stamping my message (which is from the Country Bouquet Bundle) and the squirrel on the inside of the card brings the theme to the inside. Basically this card was just stamping, coloring, and assembling.
I hope this helped you in creating a boy-themed Valentine that isn’t mushy! Check out this Valentines card too!
Until we meet again. . .
