So many of you could relate to my “not messy” stamp studio yesterday. If you follow me on Facebook you know I was elated that my husband installed new windows in our basement over the weekend . Yea! I won’t have to tape up that pink insulation board over them this year! I was watching our grand-daughter and canning salsa. During breakfast I was sure to ask him if I needed to remove items off the walls or counters before they began the task. He said it wouldn’t be a big mess because they got to practice cutting the cement on the previous 2 windows on the other side of the basement. The third window went so smooth and they didn’t need to do much cutting.
It might help if I give you a little history of our house. It was built in 1947 and the windows have not been updated since. How do I know? I grew up in this house. When the windows were installed they were actually put into the cement walls. Yes, I am lucky to have a cement walled basement and 8″ of head room which was rare for houses built during this period. So in order to get the window frames out he had to cut part of the cement. Can you see where I am going with this?
I suggested that maybe he could just lay plastic over all the shelves & counters. (I knew I should have done it.) Remember, when he was finished he said, it wasn’t a mess. I found just a little cement debris & dust that flew all over when they cut out the 3 window frames. I had cement pebbles on shelves & counters, in my utensil containers, stuck to my SNAIL adhesive & Sticky Strip. Did I mention the dust? If you’ve ever gone through any kind of remodeling your know about the dust. Well, it was everywhere!
I went down on Wednesday to prep some projects to share with you & for my upcoming newsletter when I discovered my not messy studio. I spent the past two days vacuuming, wiping & washing almost everything in my stamp studio. I am happy to report it is now clean, not sparkling clean, but clean. I was able to pump out some projects this afternoon during some much needed creative time. Here are a few pictures of a couple of my counters. I had already started cleaning when I thought to take a few pictures to share.
This is where I was working on a few thank you cards for online orders ~they will be going out a few days late~ sorry.
No, that’s not concrete, stones or dust you see. I wished and wished for the cleaning fairies to take care of this mess but even they didn’t want to do it! Oh well. I do have NEW windows!
Till we meet again,
