This Bunny Made Me Smile the moment the watercolor started coming together, and that’s exactly the feeling I want a handmade Easter card to give. Soft colors, a simple stamped image, and a touch of watercolor can turn a basic card into something heartfelt and joyful. This sweet bunny card is proof that you don’t need complicated layers or techniques to create something special.

The base of this card starts with Strawberry Slush cardstock, which adds warmth and contrast without overwhelming the design. A layer of Balmy Blue cardstock softens the look and creates a gentle spring color palette. For the focal image, I stamped the bunny from the Easter Basket Stamp Set onto Watercolor Paper, which is essential for this technique. Watercolor paper holds moisture well and allows the ink to move without warping or pilling.
I stamped the image using Staz-On ink, which is an important step when watercoloring. Because Staz-On is permanent, the stamped lines stay crisp and clean when water is applied. This makes it much easier to relax and enjoy the watercolor process without worrying about the image bleeding.

This Bunny Made Me Smile with Simple Watercolor Techniques
For the watercoloring, I used a watercolor brush and pulled ink directly from the lids of my ink pads. Balmy Blue and Gray Granite were used for the bunny, keeping the shading light and subtle. I added Granny Apple Green for the grass and Strawberry Slush for the flowers to bring in small pops of color that tie back to the card base.
When watercoloring stamped images, I recommend starting with very light layers. It’s easier to add more color than to remove it. Letting areas dry slightly before adding additional layers helps prevent harsh lines and keeps the look soft and blended. This approach is especially helpful if you’re newer to watercolor and still building confidence.
