A golden birthday

I was recently asked for a few birthday card ideas, one for a mother-in-law and the other for a soon to be 30 year old. The favorite colors are golds and silvers. These needed to be quick but WOW with techniques and bling. I was in a creating mood since I had just been baking cookies and other goodies for the upcoming holidays. My customer wanted to place an order the next morning so I needed to get these done and to her quickly. I decided to start with the card for her mother-in-law first but it could also be used for the second needed card.

I first embossed the stamped image using gold embossing powder.

I then used the coordinating Wildflower embossing folder to raise the flowers.

I could have stopped at this point but decided to add 3 different sizes of Rhinestone Jewels to bring this card over the top. I also embossed the “Happy Birthday” in the inside of the card using the gold embossing powder.

I stamped the envelope with only a part of the stamp set using the Encore Gold stamp pad.

Here is the final result.

a golden birthday card & envelope

I layered the Very Vanilla onto our Brushed Gold cardstock which added richness to this elegant card. This was one of those cards I wasn’t surre I was going to like when I started but am in love with it! These pictures just don’t do this card any justice cause it is simply beautiful in person.

I will share the second card I created for her tomorrow.

This witch rock & rolled!

Creating this card was fun, I loved how the rock & roll technique turned out. I stamped the witch image from the Toxic Treats Stamp Set # 127898 (w) # 127901 (c) in Wisteria Wonder Ink first then rock & rolled it in the Basic Black Ink then stamped the image onto Very Vanilla cardstock. I used the Labels Collection Framelits # 125598 to cut the image out. I cut out a few banners and the mat from the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper # 126906. The Tangerine Tango mat bhind the witch image was run through the Big Shot using the new Argyle Folder # 127750. The card base is Wisterria Wonder. I got my color combo from the howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP, however you will notice that Wisteria WOnder is not listed as a color found in the DSP. I love adding purple to my Halloween paper crafts & cards and felt that the Wisteria Wonder was a good coordinating purple because of it's gray undertones. Many that see this card think the Basic Gray in the DSP is Wisteria Wonder! …But I tell them that if they look closely they will see that it is actually gray. Funny how our eyes can fool us!

This card actually opens from the bottom, with the fold at the top. If you'd like to add some bling to this card you could use our 2-Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I think I would go overr the bats in the upper left hand corner, I feel this doesn't need alot of bling but that would be just the right touch if you wanted some.

I just love all the patterns in the Howlstooth & Scringbone DSP pack, you could change up the look of this card just by using the other sides! I love the dimensional look of the rock & roll technique on this card.

Dasher stamp set, retiring Stampin’ Up! stamp set

The Dasher stamp set was my number 1 selling holiday stamp last year. I found it amazing how many different designs my customers and friends came up using the Dasher stamp set. It appeared on the most deco to country styles, from the most simple to the most intricate, elegant card designs. Dasher saw everything from jewels, buttons, and glitter on his antlers, one customer even put mini gum drop candies on them~ which was just too darn cute!

The sample I am sharing with you today is one that my Hostess Clubs made. My In The Mail Clubs received a video with this and 2 other cards for the month of September 2011. The Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder picks up the details in the Designer Series Paper which picks up the elegant whimsey of the antlers of Dasher. You could turn Dasher into Rudolph by adding a Rhinestone Jewel to his nose and coloring it with a red Sharpie pen.

Materials:

Stamps

Dasher # 116816
