Best of Butterflies

The Best of Butterflies is just one of the Best of 25 years stamp sets. It was featured in April and is available to purchase through March 2014. This card was inspired as I sat in my backyard enjoying watching the butterflies and humming birds in my flower gardens. A butterfly came fluttering in and looked like it was blue because of the way the sun was shining. I thought it was simply beautiful.

I wanted the butterfly to be the feature on my card so I used the Window Frames Collection  framelits to mat it. The butterfly is stamped in Marina Mist ink onto Whisper White card stock. This is layered onto Baked Brown Sugar, then onto Soft Sky. I embossed the larger Marina Mist mat using the Fancy Fan embossing folder. And those cute little accents on the corners aren’t brads, they are our NEW Candy Dots!

best of 25 years butterflyNow don’t go looking for them in Baked Brown Sugar because you won’t find them. I used the Soft Suede Candy Dots from the Neutrals collection which coordinate perfectly with the Baked Brown Sugar. Sweet, huh?  These little dots are adhesive backed and so easy to use. Be sure to buy more than 1 pack or you’ll be sorry! I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the edges of the butterflies wings to mimmick the sunlight bouncing off its’ wings.

Are you wondering how I did the corners of the Marina Mist mat? watch for my video coming soon and I’ll share my trick!  I’ll be bringing you another card or two using the Best of Butterflies stamp set.

In A Snap- A Step Up project Series #1,scrapbook page

This is my final project for Series #1 in my In A Snap – A Step Up project. No, it’s not the end of the projects just the Series #1 which is the color palette of Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Melon Mambo & So Saffron. I will bringing you a new color palette next week with even more projects for you to copy and share!

This project has a special place in my heart because it is going to be one of the pages in my future grand-daughters memory book that I will be giving her parents in a few weeks. I just think these snails are so adorable and were the perfect image to use on this page. I  intend this page to be used when she starts crawling. I would like to a title of- “Cute as a button, creepin’ at a snails pace” but not sure they will want it as a title so I will make the title for them later. Now that I look at that title it reminds me of the Eric Church song- “Creepin”! Guess I could use creeping instead. . . . Oh my gosh, that song is stuck in my head now! Too funny.

To get back to the project at hand~ I used our Scalloped Border Punch for the edges of the picture mat and the tag. I plan to have them put the date and a little journaling in the tag. I was originally going to stamp the snails in black and water color them in using Certainly Celery & Melon Mambo inks but decided to add the buttons instead.

Button Buddies scrapbook page

A few other details I added are; the stitching along both edges of the bottom strip, the embossed polka dots on the picture mat edge, the Melon Mambo ribbon, the Rose Red button (coordinates great!). These little details are quick to add.

Until we meet again,

In A Snap, Step -Up Series #1, Button Buddies & Teeny Tiny Wishes Cherry card

In A Snap, Step-Up Series #1

This is the third project in my “In A Snap, Step-Up Series #1. I am continuing the use of the Button Buddies & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets and the color palette of; Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Melon Mambo, & So Saffron. I just love these cherries ( they remind me of  snacking on the cherries that grew outside my bedroom window as a little girl) in the Button Buddies stamp set and plan on giving this card to a friend with some goodies. Once again, I used the marker to stamp technique to color the image. I just happened to find the paper clip in my desk drawer and it matched the Melon mambo cherries perfectly. The Daffodil Delight stitched grosgrain ribbon co-ordinates great with the So Saffron card stock. I also ran my Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write marker along the edge of the tag to help highlight it.

Stampin’ Up! retiring stamp set Sweetheart

The retiring Sweetheart stamp set  # 120415 (w) #120780 (c) , found on page 60 of the 2011-2012 Catalog/Idea Book, is one that I will surely miss using at workshops! My workshop guests just love creating an assortment of cards with this adorable, vesatile , yet simple set. We loved pairing it up with our Heart Treat Cups #  found on page 182. and seeing what little treats we could fill them with. We love creating an assortment of heart flowers by stamping assorted background and other stamps onto Whisper White card stock and then punching the stamped image out using our Full Heart Punch # found on page 210. In this sample we used the background stamp found in the  Clearly For You # 121911(w) #121976(c) stamp set found on page 136 of the catalog..

When usinng the Sweetheart set for our memory pages we would combine several of the heart images to create a large flower, a shamrock for St. Patrick's Day or just using the cute little bird for a fun park page. We've  used the stem around a page layout to make a cute border that created a frame around the page. .By using Basic Black Ink it created a fun whimsical border for the Disney theme.
