How to Make a Masculine Birthday Card with Loveliest Tree Stamps
If you’ve ever struggled with guy-friendly designs, today’s project will show you exactly how to make a masculine birthday card that feels polished, rustic, and perfect for any celebration. Using the Loveliest Tree stamp set, earthy tones, and a simple sanding technique, this card blends texture and detail in all the right ways.

Supplies You’ll Need
- Loveliest Tree Stamp Set
- Gray Granite Card Base
- Gray Granite Two-Tone Cardstock
- Early Espresso Cardstock (mat layer)
- Country Woods 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper
- Old Olive Ink Pad
- Mossy Meadow Ink Pad
- Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker
- Sponge Dauber
- Paper Trimmer & Adhesive

Adding Texture with the Sanding Technique
When it comes to masculine cards, texture is everything. That’s why I used the sanding technique on the Gray Granite Two-Tone Cardstock. This paper has a white core, and when you lightly sand the surface, that core peeks through for a distressed, rustic look. It pairs beautifully with the Country Woods DSP, which already has that worn, natural feel. Together, they set the perfect backdrop for a strong, masculine birthday card.

How to Make a Masculine Card with Depth and Dimension
To bring the stamped image to life, I stamped the tree in Old Olive. Next, I used a sponge dauber with Mossy Meadow ink to deepen the edges of the leaves, giving them dimension and shadow. This little detail makes the tree feel full and natural instead of flat.
The trunk and branches were then enhanced with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, adding definition and grounding the whole image. This is one of my favorite tricks—it’s quick, easy, and really elevates the look of a simple stamped image.
Pulling the Design Together
The layers on this card are what make it pop. The Early Espresso mat gives just enough contrast to frame the tree without overpowering it. The Gray Granite base keeps the design neutral, while the Country Woods DSP adds a rustic touch that ties the whole look together.
The result? A masculine card that’s timeless, classy, and totally gift-worthy. Perfect for birthdays, Father’s Day, or any occasion where you want something strong and understated.
Try This Technique for Your Next Masculine Card
Now that you know how to make a masculine birthday card with sanding and layered inking, I encourage you to give it a try! Even small details—like daubing darker ink on stamped leaves or sanding Two-Tone cardstock—can completely change the look of your project.
Whether you’re crafting for a dad, husband, brother, or friend, this rustic birthday card strikes just the right balance of texture, color, and detail.
Until we meet again. . .
