The main stars of this creepy show? A Gorgeous Grape cauldron overflowing with eerie orange potion. I made from one of the patterns in the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper Pack. I used my blending brush around the edges with Pumpkin Pie ink. Adding a glow to the potion was easy by using Wink of Stella. The cat on a broom ready for a midnight ride. The perched crow seems to be guarding the stack of potions and spells books. Each image was die-cut using the Potions and Spells dies and layered with dimension for extra pop.
Next, it was time to create the scary background for these characters. To set the stage for this eerie card I started with the
Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper.
I wanted to capture a dark and stormy night feel, so I grabbed my blender brush and a mix of inks.
How to create a scary background
First, I began by blending not so spooky colors like, Highland Heather, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie in spots on the designer series paper. Next, I went over the entire paper blending Blueberry Bushel ink between the other colors. I did go over the other colored spots a bit to add depth to the sky. Look at how the pattern in the paper makes it look like the wind blowing throughout the night sky. I then grabbed a sponge dauber and created the moon. With a little blending magic, the blue background came to life with an unsettling, haunted vibe. I think it’s perfect for the Halloween season!
The potion even seems to be seeping over the sides… clearly, someone needs to keep a better eye on their witchy brew! This card will be a hit for anyone who loves Halloween—and trust me, it’s a blast to make. The haunting and scary background, combined with the fun images from the bundle, makes it perfect for a spooky yet crafty night in.
I hope this gives you some Halloween inspiration…and beware of any crows sitting around too quietly!Until we meet again. . .
