How to Make a Halloween Shaker Card

August 20, 2025 by Judi Anderson Leave a Comment

20 Aug

Halloween Shaker Card projects are the perfect way to add some extra fun to your crafting this spooky season. Today I’m showing you how to turn the Spooky Sweet Specialty Designer Series Paper into a playful and interactive card using 3″ x 4″ Flip Flaps. The result? A Halloween card that rattles, shakes, and puts a smile on anyone’s face.

This card may look like it took hours to make, but it’s actually much easier than you think. With just a few tools and some simple steps, you can have your very own shaker card ready to share.

Card Supplies

Here’s what I used to create this fun card:

  • Spooly Sweet Specialty Designer Paper #166191 *Not available until September)
  • (check out the rest of the cute coordinating products in September)
  • 3″ x 4″ Flip Flaps #166513
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals #104430
  • Take Your Pick Crafter Tip #161602

Halloween Shaker Card Step-by-Step

  1. Cut your DSP to 5 1/4″ x 4″.
  2. Use your Take Your Pick Crafter Tip with the razor blade to carefully cut out the doorway.
  3. Trim your Flip Flap to measure 3″ x 2 3/4″.
  4. Cut a piece of DSP to fit inside the Flip Flap and insert it. Fill with a few fingerfuls of shaker elements.
  5. Seal the open end of the Flip Flap by trimming off the seal strip from the remaining piece of the Flip Flap.
👉 Watch the video tutorial here for a closer look at this step.
  6. Adhere the shaker window to the card front using liquid glue.
  7. Adhere the DSP piece over the shaker element using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  8. Add your desired die cuts from the coordinating die-cut sheet.
  9. Stamp a sentiment onto Basic White cardstock and adhere as desired.
  10. Brush a little shimmer on the windows using the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
  11. Finish by adding a white insert to the inside of the card and adhere your favorite die cut.

And just like that—you’ve got a Halloween shaker card ready to delight!

Halloween Shaker Cards are one of my favorite ways to surprise the recipient because they’re interactive, fun, and surprisingly easy to make once you know the trick with Flip Flaps. I hope this project inspires you to grab some Spooky Sweet Specialty DSP when is becomes available on September 2nd and start shaking things up in your craft room.
