Creating an Easy Watercolor Easter Card is a wonderful way to celebrate the beauty and meaning of the season while experimenting with simple stamping techniques. For this project, I used the Blessed Beginnings stamp set. I created a peaceful church scene that perfectly reflects the spirit of Easter. Soft watercoloring brings the image to life while keeping the design light and fresh.
This card started with a Basic White cardstock panel, which I used as my watercolor surface. While watercolor paper is commonly used for this technique, Basic White cardstock can also create beautiful results. You will need to use a light touch with your water and ink. Next week, I’ll be sharing another card using the same technique. I will be using watercolor paper so you can see the difference between the two surfaces.
To begin, I stamped the church image from the Blessed Beginnings stamp set onto the Basic White cardstock using StazOn black ink. This detailed image provides a wonderful base for adding soft watercolor shading and highlights.
Easy Watercolor Easter Card Ink Supplies
For the water coloring, I used several classic Stampin’ Up! ink colors:
Timid Tiger – used for the Easter greeting at the top of the card
Pretty Peacock – lightly blended into the sky background
Soft Sea Foam – brushed onto the roof and surrounding greenery
Strawberry Slush – added to the steps and small accents for warmth
To create the watercolor effect, I simply picked up a small amount of ink from the lid of my ink pad with a damp brush. Next, I gently painted the areas of the stamped image. The key is to work slowly and build color gradually. A little ink goes a long way when water coloring stamped images.
Once the painting was complete, I layered the panel onto a Soft Sea Foam cardstock mat. This helps frame the artwork and ties together the soft spring color palette. For the card base, I chose a floral patterned Designer Series Paper. This paper adds a cheerful and seasonal touch without competing with the focal image.
The finished card feels soft, peaceful, and perfect for sending Easter blessings to friends and family.

If you’re new to watercoloring, start with Basic White cardstock and light layers of ink. It’s a simple way to experiment with watercolor techniques before moving to specialty watercolor paper.
