A Splash of Spring My Inspiration for Spotlight on Nature Card

A Splash of Spring – Blends, Backgrounds, and a Simple Thank You. This week’s project is a celebration of spring’s soft warmth. Those golden blooms, the fresh greens, and just a whisper of texture to make it all pop.

During my Tuesday Live, I’ll walked you through how to create this cheerful “thanks” card. These layers, a subtle background stamping, and a clean floral image allow for maximum impact with minimal fuss.

I started with a piece of our Full of Life 6×6 Designer Series Paper (DSP). This particular piece has colors blended from one corner to the other. They move from a citrusy yellow-orange into a fresh spring green. Changing up DSP by stamping on it is one of my favorite techniques to do. I stamped all over it with the crosshatch texture using Old Olive ink. Using this tone of green keeps the same ink tones to add just a hint of movement and depth. Nothing too busy, just enough to say, “Yes, I meant to do that!”

A Splash of Spring: Why This Design Works

This layout strikes the perfect balance between soft and bold. The background pulls you in with vibrant color and subtle texture. The clean white space around the floral focal image keeps it grounded and elegant.

The warm Peach Pie blends on the petals are echoed by the Peach Pie card base. This ties the whole palette together. And of course, those tiny gold bees? They’re the perfect finishing touch—unexpected, charming, and just a little bit whimsical.

The best part? This card is beginner-friendly without looking beginner-made. So, whether you’re trying card making for the first time or just want a go-to design that’s easy to replicate, this one’s for you.
