A Gift Card Holder for a Friend: Tammy is bringing you Watercolor Pencils, Coffee & Chaos

Tammy here. So, here’s the thing—I was just gonna make a quick card. You know, one of those “I have 10 minutes before life hits me with a grocery list and an ink-stained toddler” kind of projects.

And then I got cute.

I grabbed my newest stamp set purchase, More Than Autumn. Also grabbing my new stash of Watercolor Pencils Assortment 1 (which I’ve already “accidentally” sharpened unevenly—don’t ask), and a Memories & More notecard that I still had from my original purchase.

Then my demo—you know, the magical paper whisperer who somehow makes ink behave—told me this trick: trim the card down by 1/4″ on each side and layer it on a piece of cardstock. Great! just bought a pack of Brights assorted cardstock!

You mean… I get to use more paper and feel clever about it? Shut the front door!

Oh! And she even showed me how to add the Hello right with the cup stamp—so I don’t end up with a big ol’ coffee ring around it. Genius, right?

Yep. I matched the colors—Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, and a little swoop of blue shadowing—to the logo of my friend’s go-to caffeine dealer.

So now we’ve got layers. We’ve got coloring. We’ve got…a drink that definitely looks like it came from someone’s favorite coffee chain (you know the one—with the pink and orange logo and drive-thru lines longer than a concert).

Because this card? It’s a gift card holder.
And this friend? She needs coffee.
And me? I needed an excuse to use those juicy new pencils and justify the class I took: Simple Cards an, Creative Water Coloring.

Let me just say—if you haven’t taken that class yet? Do it. It made me feel like a real artist with only minimal panic and just one accidental pencil drop into my water cup. A win, truly.

Now my little masterpiece is ready to slide into the gift card holder. It’s bright. It’s bold. It says “hello” while screaming “I tried—and it worked.”

So yeah, I made a card for a coffee gift card.
And no, it’s not perfect.
But it’s handmade with caffeine-fueled love, and that’s the vibe.

Wanna guess what coffee shop inspired these colors?
Drop your guess below—winner gets bragging rights and possibly a smudged high five.

Remember: perfection is for store-bought cards.
