December Birthday themed cards are some of my favorite to make. I have a few friends and a nephew with birthdays in December.
I remember when we were young, one of my friends’ felt a little cheated. She would say that she didn’t get any of her bigger gifts for her birthday because Santa brought them. On the other hand, her parents always made sure to have a party for her. These were held earlier in the month because they wanted her to feel celebrated.
I have two children with birthday’s close to Christmas. One in November ( sometimes falling on Thanksgiving) and the other at the end of January. We made sure to celebrate both on their birthday.
December themed birthday cards for friends is a must for me.
When creating these cards I used deeper colors that are sometimes mixed with lighter colors. Today’s card uses a dark and light pallette.
My colors were inspired by the Splendid Day Specialty Designer Series Paper (# 159666). I love how the Soft Sea Foam Foil sheet brought a sparkle to my card. I used Basic Gray, Cherry Cobbler, and Soft Sea Foam inks. Most wouldn’t think of using the darker, Cherry Cobbler, but I love the look! Check out another card using the Splendid Day paper HERE.
Choosing the smaller flower image from the Art Gallery stamp set (#158201) gives the illusion of a carnation. I omitted the stem from the leaf image. Feeling that Basic Gray background dots and sentiment would be perfect. Thinking that black would be too dark, and Cherry Cobbler blend in too much, I am happy with the outcome.
I shared creating this card on Facebook this week. You can check out the video here. Please comment and let me know if you make December themed birthday cards also.
Don’t forget, today only you get. . .
Until we meet again. . .
