Beautiful Fall Colors:crafting with the Autumn Leaves Bundle

Beautiful Fall Colors are emerging all around us as the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp. Nature paints a breathtaking canvas of colors that never fails to inspire. The emergence of beautiful fall hues is a sight to behold. It’s the perfect time to bring these colors into your paper crafting. I’m sharing a card I created using the Autumn Leaves Bundle. My card features the rich and vibrant shades of fall.

The Autumn Leaves Bundle has so many crafting possibilities, especially during the fall season. With intricate leaf designs and versatile sentiments, this bundle allows you to capture the beauty of fall in your creations. From cards and scrapbook layouts to home decor, the options are endless.

Providing a perfect backdrop for the fall colors to shine, a Mossy Meadow card base is used. Next, I layered on a peice of Wild Wheat Designer Series Paper. Softening the look of the DSP a layer of Vellumn Cardsdtock was added. Using the coordinating dies from the Autumn Leaves Bundle, I cut out a variety of leaf shapes from Crushed Curry, Real Red, and Granny Apple Green cardstock. To achieve the look of leaves turning I used blending brushes to add color.

Beautiful Fall Colors are chosen to mirror the magnificent transition of leaves turning during autumn.

  • Pumpkin Pie,
  • Crushed Curry,
  • Real Red,
  • Wild Wheat
  • Mossy Meadow, and
  • Granny Apple Green, come together to mimmick the warmth and vibrancy of the season.
Beautiful Fall Colors:crafting with the Autumn Leaves Bundle

I arranged the leaves in a cascading design, creating a dynamic and visually appealing composition. The rich colors of the leaves pop against the Pumpkin Pie background, capturing the essence of a fall foliage display.

No card is complete without a heartfelt sentiment. I chose one of the sentiments from the Autumn Leaves Bundle, stamping it in Pecan Pie ink on a die cut piece of Whisper White cardstock. Placing the sentiment strategically on the card added a touch of sentimentality to the design.

Fall is a season that invites us to embrace the beauty of change, and crafting allows us to celebrate that transformation. The Autumn Leaves Bundle, with its intricate designs and versatile elements, provides the perfect tools to express the magic of fall in our creations.

As the leaves turn from green to shades of Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Real Red, and Granny Apple Green, let this card serve as a reminder of the stunning fall colors all around us. May it inspire you to infuse your own crafting projects with the warmth and vibrancy of autumn.

So, grab your crafting supplies, embrace the beautiful fall colors, and let your creativity soar. With the Autumn Leaves Bundle, your creations can capture the essence of this enchanting season and spread the joy of fall to those you share them with.

Using both sides of your paper might surprise you!

Using both sides of your paper

Using both sides of your paper with the same layout is one way to get a different look with the same design. I’ve used the Them Bones Designer Series Paper (DSP) for my card today.

I love using double-sided papers. Are you like me and can’t decide which side to use? Discover the multiple looks without changing your layout. Achieving different looks to the same card elements come easily when you use this trick in your paper crafting.

One my ffirst card I chose the pattern with bones as my main pattern. This mimmicks the skeleton. I love how the plaid and the brings in the colors of oranges and rusts for fall. The pattern of bats and dots give the look of an October sky while the basic black circle and banner pop on this layout. The More Dazzle paper enhances the Glow-in-the Dark bats and skeleton. Choosing to use basic white circle for the sentiment gives the illusion mthe skeleton is reaching for the moon.

Using both sides of your paper gives you a different look.

Here is using the flip side of the Designer Series Papers! The backside of the bone pattern is the bats, dots, moon and skeletons. You can see the entire pattern when you use the larger piece. I feel this gives the look of skeletons having a party. The flip side of the plaid has a variety of tombstones. The only other change that is made is I used two Glow-in-the Dark ghosts and one bat.

Leave me a comment as to which card you like best.

How to create a card design for any stamp set and theme

How to create a card design that you can easily change for different stamp sets can help make your designing easier. Start by taking different shapes and sizes of paper. This can even be scraps. Don’t worry about the colors at this point. You are just figuring out the design. Next nyou will want to choose a stamp set and your papers. Today I am sharing a design that began this way.

My card design begins with the layout. It is simple. I have used paper strips and circles. The strips have one of thier ends cut to create banners of different sizes. By varying the widths and lengths I create movement. I have also used different patterns of the Brights 6×6 Designer Series Paper. Arrange these stirps differently to change up the look of the card.

The next element of my design are circles. I have punched two circles that are 2 3/8″ and one punched 2″ Basic White Circle. Change the circles out with a different shape to achieve different looks.

I have chosen the Hey Chuck stamp set. This set can be for anyone on your card list. It can also be used for a variety of occassions. The image I chose adds to the circular motion. Did you notice how the entire image isn’t showing in the circle? This is a trick that seasoned stampers will use. I find that new stampers think that the entire image has to fit into the shape.

How to create a card design using #HeyChuck

How to create a card design by changing the papers you use;

Your design will have a different feel depending onthe papers and colors you use. I emcourage you to try a variety of papers with your layouts. An example is; fall printed papers with reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and browns. Take your que from the patterned paper. Choosing colors in it will bring harmony to your design. Here are a few tips;

  • Keep a notebook with your favorite layouts.
  • Draw the layout, include measurements
  • look for papers to create the feel you want
  • you can change the elements (IE: circle, square, rectangle, triangle, etc)
  • choose your colored paper
  • choose a stamp that will fit in your element(s)
  • Have fun!

I reach for my design notebook when I am crunched for time or need inspiration. I hope you find by keeping a notebook of layouts and designs helps you to create a card design for any stamp set and theme.

Do you know how to tell if your dog has congestive heart failure?

Do you know how to tell if your dog has congestive heart failure? Well, I didn’t. FULL DISCLOSURE: I am not a medical doctor of vetinary medicine and this is just my observation. Please see YOUR vet for information.

I wanted to share what is going on in my life lately. We have had 4 fur babies in our life but have lost 2 in the past year. We still have one bulldog, Roxie, and our Shih Tzu, Minnie. Unfortunately we recently found out our Roxie, is ill. Here is her story.

Our Victorian Bulldog, Roxie has always had a what I call, a “boxy” build. This means she is more square. She is our second Victorian and know that this is just how they look. Dave tells everyone her name is Skinny! Most chuckle at him. Here she is doing her, “I want to play” pose.

Do you know how to play? #VIctorianBulldog
Roxie

Roxie had ear surgery in May and has been doing well. She has always been active and loves sun bathing. Roxie needed to loose a few pounds so we have cut down on treats. She has always nibbled her dry food throughout the day, only getting a limited amount.

If you are a bully owner you know how they don’t do well in the heat. She doesn’t mind it so we have to be the one’s who limit her being outside. We began to notice a change in her with the loss of our other bulldog, Maxx. Maxx was 14 years old was showing signs of a bad heart before we had to say good-bye the end of June.

Roxie & Maxx together
Roxie & Maxx hanging out

Roxie was showing these signs;

  • She was laying around more than usual
  • panting more
  • breathing harder
  • not wanting to be outside
  • drinking more water

These weren’t anything unusual when the weather gets really hot. Laying around more is the same reaction Roxie had when her brother, Ricco, passed last year. Ricco is an English Bulldog and they grew up together from pups. And this is why we didn’t think anything was wrong with her. Aren’t they just too cute in this picture?

Roxie & Ricco Victorian & English Bulldog
Roxie & Ricco

Do you know how to tell when your dogs heart is beginning to fail?

The day before I was leaving for 5 days I noticed she looked a little heavier. We thought it was because she was drinking a lot more water than normal. Another thing she does when hot.

I returned home and she looked bigger to me. Dave said she wasn’t eating very much because it was so hot. I observed her the next day and decided she needed to see the vet. I made an appointment for the next morning. The next morning she was so bloated and looked miserable. She waighed 68 LBS (gained 6 pounds!!) since our last visit 6 weeks prior. I said there was no way cause she was hardly eating due to the heat.

After some tests were done, it was confirmed she has congestive heart failure. They needed to keep her for the rest of the day. We picked her up about 6 hours later and were happy to hear she didn’t need to spend the night at the animal hospital. Roxie had 7 & 1/2 liters of fluid removed from her. Roxie now weighed 52 pounds. She looked so skinny! Home for the night and we had to return the next morning for more observation.

Roxie did alright overnight and we dropped her off. I received a call about 2 hours later that her breathing was not good and her heart rate was really high. An EKG was done and sent it off to be read. Results were determined she has one chamber that has 2 extra beats and there is nothing that can be done. Receiving another 2 perscriptions to help make her comfortable and then a re-check this Thursday. We know we have limited time with our little Roxie so we are spoiling her.

do you know how to tell if yyour dog may have a congestive heat? If you observe that your dog is not; being their self, drinking more, breathing heavy, not eating as much, and looking bloated, get them to the vet. It may be nothing but it also might be congestive heart failure. Please say a prayer for our Roxie.

Until we meet again . . .

Creating Backgrounds with Masks is fun and easy

Creating Backgrounds with Masks allows your creativity emerge. In the world of paper crafts, the art of creating backgrounds is a true marvel. This skill that can elevate your designs from simple to stunning, adding depth and texture that draws the eye. In this blog post, I’m diving into the world of background masks.

For my project, I decided to experiment with the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks (#162331). This is a set with three distinctive background masks and four masks coming together to form a trio of sunflowers. Today, I chose the herringbone mask, an intriguing pattern that promises a visually striking outcome.

To achieve a unique and captivating look, I reached for Daffodil Delight and Wild Wheat inks. Combining these shades, the herringbone mask resulted in a dimensional effect that appeared almost three-dimensional. The texture and depth created by lining up the mask twice, instantly transformed the card’s backdrop into a piece of art. This is how I achieved this look with this mask. Using Daffodil Delight and a blending brush, softly, I colored in the mask. Tip: add color in layers to achieve the depth you wish. Next, I moved the mask diagonally into the white space. As before, I layered the ink coloring the mask using Wild Wheat Ink. Removing the mask you will notice you may have a very small anount of white space. This is adds to the illusion, giving it a 3-D look.

With the background complete, I turned my attention to the focal point. The Translucent Florals Bundle (#162253) seemed like the perfect fit. Using Poppy Parade and Pumpkin Pie inks for the flowers and Mossy Meadow for the leaves, to create a bouquet. This radiates vibrancy and life against the textured backdrop.

Creating Backgrounds with Masks can bring your creativity to new heights.

Provideing a seamless transition I chose an Old Olive card base. This harmonizes with the leaves and enhances the overall look. To add a touch of sophistication and balance, I incorporated three Brushed Metallic Dots as embellishments. This creates a subtle visual path from the sentiment to the blooms.

Creating backgrounds with Masks #AbundantBeautyDecorativeMasks
Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks & Translucent Florals available beginning 9/6/23

The finished card is a testament to the magic of background masks. They have the power to transform a simple piece of cardstock into a canvas of intricate beauty. Achieving this design that exudes both elegance and dimension when using the herringbone pattern, and a carefully chosen color palette.

Deciding to brng the pattern to the inside of the card, I did the edges with the mask. Doing this with the remaining ink in your Blending Brush helps you clean out your brush too!

Incorporating background masks into your cardmaking opens up a world of creativity. They allow you to tailor your backgrounds to match the theme or sentiment of your card. Infusing your designs with a personalized touch is endless. From bold patterns to subtle textures, background masks give you the tools to enhance your card creations.

As you create projects, consider the wonders of background masks. Experiment with patterns, play with colors, and embrace the unique dimension they bring to your designs. The Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks are just the beginning of your creative adventure. Let your imagination run wild and watch as your card designs flourish with depth and charm.

Check out this card I shared earlier using the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks!

Back Stage 2023 is a time for learning and fun

Back Stage 2023 didn’t disappoint! This is an event for Stampin’ Up! Leaders. We enjoy two days and two evenings building relationships while learning.

I am always saying stamping has brough so many friendships and sisters into my life. ( May of you know I have 3 brothers and no sisters) I arrived a few days early to meet up with friends across the globe. We stamped, talked business, I learned some new ideas. In between we enjoyed some pool time at one of the 9 pools! We chose the large pool with the fountain. We grabbed a burger and drink at the poolside grill. Cooked to perfection, my burger was SOOOOO yummy! Here is a collage of some of the friends that have been in my life for 15+ years. One has been in my life since I began this stamping thing 23 years ago!

Thursday brought more attendees arriving & gatherings as we joined with others for more talk & fun. I was happy to see many friends that I met last year, in New Orleans, arriving.

#Stampinupbackstage2023

The festivities officially began Thursday evening. We were all invited to a Swaps and Sweets Party poolside. As usual, it didn’t disappoint! There was a fun game to get our gift. As you can see above, a hand emerged from behind a black curtain, we put our gift ticket in it, and then received our gift. Tables filled with shortcakes, ice cream sundays, veggies, chesses, dips, and so much more! There was a light-up chess game and huge Connect game. If the talk, food and games weren’t enough you could always head over to the dance area. The D.J. kept everyone dancing!

Back Stage 2023 classes were phenominal!

Friday and Saturday was filled with classes. We learned from demonstrators and Key Note Speakers. We chose which classes we wanted to attend live, and those we couldn’t would be available online, later. I have been attending these leader events for over 18 years. You may be thinking, “What can you learn?” I always find a nugget or two from every class. Sometimes it something new, and other times a reminder.

Back Stage 2023 #Backstage2023
Saturday was another day filled with classes and making a business plan. Our Keynote speakers were fabulous! They talked about social media and their message resonated with me. I will be putting what I learned to good use! We had received a T-Shirt earlier in the day. Our General Session ended with a few surprises too. A Beetles imitation group played a few songs for us. If you follow me on Facebook you watched them live!! It was then announced that after we enjoyed some appetizzers and deserts we were to line up to go to the Cirque Du Sol Beetles LOVE Show!! Can you believe it? Stampin’ Up! paid for almost 700 of us to be bussed and see the show!
#stampinupbackstage2023

As you can see, it is more than just stamps, inks, and paper! My personal classes/ events, plus those like Backstage 2023, and my team have brought such joy into my life.

If you would like to learn more about what I do please contact me at: judi@judistamps.com. Thank you Stampin’ Up! for another wonderful Back Stage 2023!

The Christmas Classics Bundle to create a beautiful card

The Christmas Classics Bundle can help make your holiday card-making a breeze this year. With just a few cuts of decorative frames and the sentiment piece, you’ll have more than half of your card done!

Today’s card is another one of my swaps for #BackStage2023. Just as making your own Christmas cards can be a joyful endeavor, participating in swaps adds an exciting twist to the holiday card-making process.”

In swaps, you get the chance to exchange your handmade creations with others, receiving a variety of beautifully crafted cards in return. Imagine walking away with a bundle of holiday cheer! You will be able to order this Bundle on Sept 6th!

The Christmas Classics Bundle paired with The Joy of Christmas paper

My card uses the Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper as a back drop. Using several different patterns from this pack resulted in each card it’s own unique look. I chose the pattern with only leaves on this card. Wanting to make it “my own”, I stamped pine boughs and berries on it.

The Christmas Classics Bundle #SUBackstage2023

The decorative frames is Shaded Spruce. This allowed me to add a touch of elegance and flair to my design. The result is an it easy to create visually appealing focal point. Stamp the sentiment in Real Red onto the sentiment piece.

Use Stampin’ Diensionals to the back of the frame and adhere it right onto the card front. Walla! The card fron tis finished! But what would a holiday card be without a bit of bling? I added Irredecent Rhinestone Gems to the frame for that holiday glam.

The best part? Not sacrificing creativity for convenience on my swaps. The bundle leaves ample room for personalization. You can play with color schemes, add embellishments, or incorporate other elements to make each card truly unique.

As you craft cards for your loved ones, consider the joy you’re spreading. Handmade cards carry a warmth and sincerity that electronic messages simply can’t replicate. And with the Christmas Classics Bundle at your fingertips, you’re well on your way to a season filled with heartfelt connections.

Incorporate the festive spirit and anticipation of the holidays into each card you create. Whether it’s the joy of participating in swaps or the delight of sending personalized greetings, let the Christmas Classics Bundle be your go-to tool for a season filled with creativity and cheer.

Using the Abundant Beauty Masks for a quick card

Using the Abundant Beauty Masks to create card for all seasons! These masks will be available to purchase on September 6, 2023.

Don’t overlook these decorative masks that are found in the Sept – Dec. mini catalog on page 47. This is a set of seven masks. You can create beautiful backgrounds and a trio of gorgeous sunflowers.

Begin thinking outside of the box with them. I immediately thought of using different colors to create beautiful flowers. I reccomend using different mediims with the masks. Embossing Paste with Pallette Knives, Versamark ink with embossing powder, and even our Gold Leafing!

I created some of my swaps for #BackStage2023 with these masks. Wanting to have bright flowers I used Fresh Freesia and Gorgous Grape Classic inks for my flowers.

Starting with a 4 1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic White cardstock and the masks with the trio of flowers we will add color. I used my large Blending Brush, in a circular motion, to add Fresh Freesia ink. Keeping the mask on the cardstock, I used a small Blending Brush to add a bit of Gorgeous Grape ink to just the center areas of the flowers. Remove the mask. Then Itook the mask with the centers with the dots, added Gorgeous Grape really dark. Now use the same small Blending Brush and the full circles mask to add color lightly.

Using the Abundant Beauty Masks #StampinUpBackStage

Using the Abundant Beauty Masks with the leaves to finish the look.

Adding leaves to finish the look. I used Granny Apple Green, adding color lightly and then more in a few areas. The result will give the leaves some dimension and interest.

There are two options at this pint. first, you can trim this layer to measure 4″ x 5-1/4″ and adhere it to the card front. Or, second, you can use the Contours and Scallops Dies as I did. I adhered the outer die piece directly to the card front. Grabbing my Stampin’ DImensionals I then added the center die cut. A few Rhinestone Gems and sentiment finish off the frint of my swap card.

Wanting to add interest to the inside, I used the masks to add some flowers in lower left corner.

I hope you enjoyed learning how to create a beautiful Birthday card using the Abundant Beauty Masks. They will be available on September 6th. You can purchase the masks and other products I used at my online store and have themdelivered right to your front door!
