Stampers By The Dozen are doing non-holiday this month.

The Stampers By The Dozen are doing non-holiday for our Blog Hop this month. Soon Christmas will be over and you will be looking for some fun projects to create. This baby card uses a combination of products from our Holiday catalog and Annual catalog. The Buffalo check stamp set will be held over, boy am I happy!! I love that you can create different looking plaids with this background stamp. The Animal Outing stamp set can be used for a wide variety of cards (this is a must-have in my opinion!).

This card is a special fold card. I cut my cardstock at 6 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 2″. I then adhered a circle to the right edge of the card base. Don’t you just love the plaid background I made? I used a combination of inks and Blends on a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Whisper White cardstock to create it.

Here’s a detailed look of the circle element.

I used Memento ink to stamp the kangaroo & verses from the Animal Outing stamp set. I then colored the kangaroo with the following Stampin’ Blends; Light Pool Party & Crumb Cake, Petal Pink, & Bronze. I then fussy cut the image and around the verses.

Just like a baby is a happy surprise, so is the inside of this card.

This giraffe is popping in to say welcome too! I have left the inside of the card empty so I can personalize it when I give it.

Let’s see what Susan is sharing with everyone this month!

Santa’s Workshop Suite for an adorable sampler

I have your answer to decorating those tiny spaces this holiday season, this adorable framed sampler using the Santa’s Workshop Suite. This home decor piece measures 8″x8″ it also makes a perfect hostess gift this holiday season.

In the first square I used the Santa Claus compass and added a banner using the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper with the red & white stripes that is flocked (147809). We colored the rhinestones using the Dark Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blend, added dots on the label with a white gel pen and added the Santa’s Workshop Enamel shaped trees.

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

The next square has Santa checking his list. We colored the snowflakes with our Frost White Shimmer Paint (147046) and an Aqua Painter and added a Rhinestone Jewel.

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

The next square has a playful elf pulling a wagon of packages. We designed our own package wrap using Stampin’ Blends. I added an enamel bow to the top package and enamel snowflakes.

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

The final square has Mrs. Claus. She looks like she is giggling at the elf running with the packages. I added a small red enamel dot to the holly leaves.

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

I used a combination of products in the suite along with several of our Stampin’ Blends to color the images. All of the Designer Paper we used is from the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper. This playful paper has flocking on one side of  4 sheets which adds texture and interest to your projects. This project is perfect for a beginner stamper as well as novice.

Here is the final project.

Colour Challenge for Stampers By The Dozen October Hop

I love trying new color combinations and the color challenge for this month’s Stampers By The Dozen is a new combination for me. The colors we are to use are; Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, and Pool Party. While this isn’t a combination of colors that I have thought of, I love them together! In fact, I love it SO MUCH, I will be sharing a few other projects with it this week!

I chose the Country Home stamp set,and the Tin Tile Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder for my challenge card. I used a combination of our Stampin’ Write Markers and Stampin’ Blends to color the images.

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

In this close-up of the floral image you can see that I used, So Saffron  and Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write Markers to color the cotton and berry images. I used Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party, light and dark Stampin’ Blends to color the leaves and remaining floral images, and the milk can. And do you see those glitter dot embellishments? They are our the Glitter Enamel Dots (146934)! I love how the Melon Mambo dots take on the Poppy Parade color on this card.

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

Is it a combination you would have chosen on your own? Leave a comment and let me know. Personally, I have a tendency of choosing 3 colors, but these four colors work!

Let’s see what Susan has done with the color challenge!

Pair Perennial Birthday with Frosted Floral Specialty Paper for a beautiful fall card

I paired the Perennial Birthday stamp set with our Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper (147800)for a beautiful fall floral card for this month’s Stampers By the Dozen Blog Hop. Let me say, this specialty paper is absolutely beautiful! Every sheet has a pearl finish, on both sides, that adds an elegance that you must see! There are several different floral patterns as well as stripes, patterns, and leaves. It pairs beautifully with the coordinating First Frost stamp set but I am sure that you can get more use out of sets in your collection because of all the different florals in it. I chose the Perennial Birthday stamp set rather than just reaching for the coordinating First Frost (148420)stamp set. The result is this beautiful special fold  card.

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

This card isn’t just any card. The soft Suede striped layer is actually a mini card adorned with a Pearlized Lace Doilie (146936), a Pear Pizzazz leaf (punch 144667) and Mossy Meadow sprigs (punch 148012).

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

I added an assortment of our Share What You Love Artisan Pearls (146927) which coordinate beautifully with the Frosted Floral Specialty Paper. I just love how many of the products in the Annual Catalog coordinate with products in the Holiday Catalog, don’t you?

Images © 1990 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! ®

The Blackberry Bliss card base brings a true richness to this card and is a perfect color for fall. I hope you are enjoying this month’s Blog Hop with all the gorgeous fall floral projects. Let’s hop over to Susan and see her project.

Blended Seasons for SBTD Blog Hop

I am loving the Limited Edition Blended Seasons Bundle that is only available through August 31st or while available. I have featured this bundle in all my events this month and everyone is impressed and loving it’s versatility and how it is perfect for just about any occasion.

I wanted to show how well the thinlits in this bundle coordinates with stamp sets you may already own for this month’s hop. I paired the largest framelit  with the Birthday Blooms (140658) stamp set.

I stamped the flower image onto Whisper White and water colored it using Mango Melon, Soft Seafoam & Mossy Meadow inks. I used my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker for the flower buds and flower center to add depth and a little more pop of color. I then fussy cut this image.

My card base is Coastal Cabana and I used the striped Coastal Cabana Designer Series Paper from the Brights 6×6 Stack. I cut the largest framelit out of Whisper White and used the negative piece. I love how these framlits have the stitching on the positive and negative cut outs!  This color combination isn’t one that may come to mind to you but I love it, the result is a birthday card that is bright and cheery. The added touch is the lightest pearls from the Share What You Love Artisian Pearls.

Card Re-Do for the Stampers By The Dozen July Hop

We were asked to go into our older card samples to find a card  to re-do for the Stampers By The Dozen blog hop this month. This wasn’t an easy feat since most of my older work is in storage since our move.  It was fun going through my card samples, this particular card reminded me of the first cruise and big vacation we took as a family. I bought this set to do my memory album of this vacation of many firsts.

I was able to find this card from one of my first beginners classes, this card taught them about solid image stamps and using a mono chromatic color scheme. The Bon Voyage stamp set and Bordering Blue cardstock and ink were used for this card. How many of you still have some of the retired Bordering Blue? I do!

Now for the re-do card. . . .

While I didn’t use any Designer Series Paper on my  card sample card, I decided to use some  on my updated,re-do card, I love, Love, LOVE the Broadway Bound specialty designer series paper (#146277)! Why? I love the bright colors on one side and then the beautiful black and gold foil designs on the other. I used the, A Little Wild stamp set (w-#143671, c-#144344) as my focal point. Who could resist this adorable elephant?. . . especially when it is Lipstick Red!

You just might be thinking,”Judi, this card has more layers than your original.” Let me go through how I looked at my original card; bottom layer- the ships, second layer, the words, the ticket the embellishment.

I loved this card so much that I decided to use it at my Hostess Card Clubs this month. It is easy to create and you can’t help but smile when you see it. Everyone had a different number of balloons to fussy cut as they are from the Broadway Bound specialty designer series paper. If you’d like more info on how you can learn new tips, tricks and techniques while spending time with others who love to stamp send me an email.

If you are having a creative block why not reach into your card stash and re-do it? You might be amazed at how fun it is to do this!

Let’s see what Karie and the others have re-done!

Animal Outing Birthday Card for theStamper by the Dozen June Hop

Children love visiting the zoo so what makes a better birthday card than the kangaroo from the Animal Outing stamp set? My granddaughter says,” I love to watch the kangaroos hop, but grandma, this kangaroo is so silly cause it has a koala in its pouch, not a baby kangaroo!”

The balloons and the sentiment are from the Balloon Celebration stamp set and coordinate perfectly for this card. I water colored the balloons using my Aqua Painter and the following new colors added during our color refresh; Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, and Coastal Cabana. You are going to love using these colors on your projects to give them a bright and happy feeling.

Surprise!! This isn’t a full size card. I added a 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 strip of 2018-2020 In-Color (Lovely Lipstick) 6×6 Designer Series Paper (1469630) to the upper left hand corner of the image mat. I then mounted the image onto a 3 1/4″ x 9″ piece of Mango Melody cardstock, and scored it at 4 1/2″. This is what created the mini card. I colored the balloons before punching them out using the Balloon Bouquet punch,. To create the illusion of them floating I adhered them using our Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and SNAIL. See the Lovely Lipstick balloon? I stamped the head of the kangaroo and then cut around the head and ears to give the illusion that it is behind the kangaroo. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella to the balloons.

I added a 3 x 4 piece of Whisper White cardstock to the inside, stamped the sentiment and one more balloon was the finishing touch.

Are you thinking,” Judi, you didn’t get the layers on too even!” Nothing on this card is centered, which does drive me a bit wacky!! I love even, centered layouts but will change things up a bit just to throw myself off. When I do this I often find myself liking the uneveness. I do love this layout and the way the card turned out. You can’t help but smile when you see it!

Cowboy Boots for Dad for the SBTD Blog Hop

Our Stampers By The Dozen theme this month is Father’s Day so I chose cowboy boots from the Country Livin’ stamp set  for my dad themed  projects. This is one of my most used set for masculine cards, you can see the truck card that I previously shared here.

My father passed several years ago so I made this card to give to one of my two sons this Father’s Day. My other son will be receiving a card with the truck on it. The colors I used for this card are; Cajun Craze, Early espresso, and Very Vanilla for the cardstock. I used a retired embossing folder for the texture, I’m sure you have it!

Did you notice that the mats behind the boots don’t meet up? I think it adds a little more spunk to the card. The twine that I used is coming out in our new catalog on June 2nd, it’s Crumb Cake found in the .

In coloring the boots, I first water colored with my Aqua Pen and Crumb Cake ink and followed up with a bit of Cajun Craze for more of a leather look. I am sure my son is going to love this card.

Did you see that adorable nugget box I also made? It holds 2 Hershey Nuggets inside. In the close up you will notice I wrinkled the paper a bit to give it more of a leather look. Want to know how I made it?

Stamp 2 sets of boots using Memento Jet Black ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock. Cut 1 side of one of the pair of boots. Line up the second pair along this edge and continue cutting out both pairs at the same time. Next, take a piece of 2” x 4 ¼ crumb cake cardstock. Score it along both long ends at ½”. Score at1 ¾ & 2 ½. Fold on all score lines and clip the 1 ¾ & 2 ½ lines up to the ½ score lines on both sides. Use Tear & Tape to assemble and fill with 2 nuggets.

My granddaughter saw the boots filed with candy and wanted them to give to her dad. She told me she wouldn’t eat the candy until she gave them to him! I think I will make a few, tuck them in a small cello bag and give out to our waiter and other helpers on Father’s Day.

I hope you are enjoying this month’s Stampers By The Dozen Blog hop. You could even make your dad or children a few pairs of boots without breaking the bank this year!

Be sure to mosey on to  Susan’s Blog for another great project.

Birthday Delivery Bundle for the Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop

I am sad to see the Birthday Delivery Bundle will not be available in the new 2081-2019 Annual Catalog, and is just one reason I chose it for our Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop this month. I love all the coordinating products in this Birthday Memories Suite and have used most for my project.

I made this gift box and filled it with an assortment of 4 cards, 4 note cards and 4 gift tags. When I give it I will add some chocolate treats. The box has a window to give a peak of what’s inside and the balloon Honeycomb Embellishments add a fun touch to the corners of the window.

The assorted note cards are great for all ages and would be a great touch to any gift. My favorites to make were the poodle and the chef note cards. All of these note cards were inspired by an array of cards I have seen on social media and swaps I have received. I did change them up a bit, but don’t remember who inspired me, if one of these looks similar to a card you have made please let me know so I can give you credit.

The poodle, little girl and bear with balloons are all cut out from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.

Now let’s go see which bundle Susan chose to use!

We Must Celebrate for the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop

Time for another hop! I chose the “We Must Celebrate” stamp set to pair with the Painter Tape background technique for our Stampers Dozen Blog Hop this month. This technique is quite simple and uses very little supplies. You will need is some ink pads, cardstock and painters tape to create wonderful backgrounds that will compliment a variety of looks.

To do the technique you tear off a piece of tape from the roll, lay it across the ink pad, rub a little with your finger to transfer the ink to the tape and then lay the tape onto your cardstock, ink side down, rub ink onto cardstock. You can change the effects by also tapping instead of rubbing the tape onto the ink pad and/or the cardstock.

I stamped and colored the image first, then made a mask to do my technique.

I chose to do the grass in Lemon Lime Twist

Don’t you just love the texture?

The sky is done with Pool Party towards the horizon and then changed to Soft Sky. This transition is subtle but adds depth to the sky. The clouds just formed naturally from the technique.

I felt the card needed more color so the addition of snails and  mushrooms, popped up with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, did the trick.

I was hoping that you would be able to see the addition of Wink of Stella onto the snails and mushrooms but it is hard to photograph.they just look blurry. . .

Don’t you just want to reach out and pinch those chubby little squirrel cheeks??

I continued the fun to the inside of the card and added some dots with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. I leave the inside of my cards blank most of the time so I can customize it to the person I am sending it to.

Now let’s see what background technique Susan is bringing you!

Brushos for backgrounds, the S.B.T.D. February Blog Hop

Brushos ®   are making a debut in our Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog and make creating backgrounds so much fun! I knew I had to share a fun background with you for our S.B.T.D. Blog Hop theme this month.

First of all, what are Brushos® ?

They are concentrated watercolor ink crystals that burst with color when you add water. They come in a package that includes 5 containers, 1 each of 5 colors: Brilliant Red, Gamboge (orange), Moss Green, Prussian Blue, Yellow . Each container contains  0.5 oz. (14 g) of colored crystals.

Now that you know what Brushos® are, let’s see what I have created for you!

I love the look that was achieved by using the Yellow, Gambroge, Brilliant Red Brushos® with Glossy White Cardstock and shelf paper to achieve the look. I sprinkled the Brushos® onto the glossy cardstock and then spritzed them with water using our Stampin’ Spritzers. I let the colors meld a little and then laid the shelf liner on top and let it set on there for about a minute. I loved the texture that was achieved. Here’s a closer look at the background:

Next I embossed the images using Black Embossing Powder. The bird was embossed onto Whisper White Cardstock and then colored with an Aqua Painter and Berry Burst ink. I used Stampin’ Dimansionals to adhere the bird to the card and then layered the Glossy White onto Basic Black and then onto a Berry Burst card base.

We played with backgrounds using this same technique in my Brushos® class tonight. You will want to be sure to come back on Monday when I will share what my students achieved with their take on this background using Brushos®!

See what Susan has in store for you here:

Heart Happiness for any occasion, SBTD January Blog Hop

You will find yourself reaching for the Heart Happiness stamp set (145769) for just about any occasion, that is why I chose it for this month’s Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop. I always love it when the design of a stamp set lends itself to a variety of occasions without much effort on my part. How about you?

The Heart Happiness was on the top of my list when I looked through the newly released Occasions Catalog. I envisioned wedding, just for you, birthday, St. Patrick’s Day, butterflies, and, of coarse, Valentine cards when I first saw the images.  When I can see using a set more than one idea it’s a winner!  I will be sharing a few cards with this set today, none are Valentine cards!

This first card is one I taught at my Coffee and A Card Class I hold locally monthly. Attendees couldn’t believe the built-in texture to the striped image. When stamping it in one color, it automatically gives you different depth of color. We added a Stampin’ Spritzer and used 2 colors in creating our card.

We stamped the heart, using Peek A Boo Peach and Flirty Flamingo, spritzed it, & stamped one heart directly onto the card front and one on a scrap. This is a fun technique as each one comes out different! We fussy cut the heart on the scrap and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. And those coordinating pearls, they were done using the Dark Calypso Coral Blend.  The verse is found in the Picture Perfect Birthday set (145519). Here is another variation of this card. This one the heart directly on the card front was stamped twice, first and second generation. By slightly offsetting the layers it gave motion to those hearts!

I love polka dots and strawberries, can you see where I’m going with this? TO get more bang for my buck I paired the polka dot heart with the Tutti-frutti 6×6 Designers Series Paper (DSP) (#145606). These paper stacks are perfect for card making and memory keeping! I turned to my  dark Night of Navy Blend (144039) to color the Pearl Perfect Jewels to mimmick the blueberries in the DSP.

Here is another take on this same card:

Be sure to click the link below to go to see the idea Susan has for you this month.

I hope I have made your creative juices begun to flow with ideas for this Heart Happiness set that is found on page 20 of the newly released Occasions Catalog (click to view). If you’d like your own copy to browse just contact me today!

Don’t forget, Sale-A-Bration (SAB) is also going on right now. Choose a SAB item FREE with a qualifying purchase. View the catalog here.

Smitten Mittens for this month’s “From the Heart” SBTD Blog Hop

I’ve chosen to use the Smitten Mittens Bundle for this month’s SBTD Blog Hop theme, “From the Heart. I love creating, sharing, and teaching how to make cards, projects and gift from the heart so I am loving the theme!

As we go into the holidays I am reminded of my younger days when we would make gifts for friends and family. The fun we had creating and the excitement of giving and receiving those gifts will always hold a place in my heart. I have taught my children, and now my grandchildren, that the most treasured gifts are those you hand make and put your heart into. I chose the Smitten Mittens Bundle because the warmth mittens give you is like the warmth you get when hand made gifts are given and received.

This first project is a simple gift tag cut from the Christmas Around the World Design

er Series Paper (DSP)(144629) This Basic Gray, Soft Sky, & Whisper White design has a “fuzzy” look to it. I wanted to keep the warmth feeling so I used Very Vanilla cardstock for the cuff and snowflake and sponged around the mitten using Basic Gray ink. I folded a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock in 1/2 and then cut a mitten from it by making sure the top of the mitten was above the fold. I adhered the DSP to this which created a nice note tag.

A gift tag needs packaging so I created this coordinating gift box. The base is Soft Sky cardstock and the top is Basic Gray with the images stamped in Whisper White. I tied some 3/8″ Classic Weave Soft Sky Ribbon around the box.

I then decided that the mitten would make an adorable treat box. I cut 2 mittens from the same snowflake DSP. I then cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock 2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored 1/2″ along each long side. Making “v” cuts up to the score lines allow the strip to bend around the curves of the mitten. This is what it looked like

I used Fast Fuse to adhere the strip to the front and back mittens to create the treat box.

The next wasn’t planned, I just lucked out! The strip was longer than what I needed, gee, this extra makes a great lid!

I did end up taking my Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker and colored the back of the mitten thumbs because the back side had a print on a white background.

My mind was spinning with ideas as I was creating the projects for the SBTD Blog Hop. I have a card idea that I will be sharing on Monday so you will want to be sure to come back!

I am sure you will want to see everyone’s projects, click below to see what Susan has for you this month.

I hope you enjoyed my projects using the Smitten Mitten Bundle and hope that you too, give some hand-made gifts from your heart this holiday season.

Gift Packaging for the Holidays, Stampers by the Dozen November Blog Hop

The holidays will be upon us before we know it so we have chosen Gift Packaging for the Holidays for the November Theme in this months’ Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop. I make many home made gifts and I love wrapping them in beautiful hand made packaging to make them extra special, don’t you?

Our Striped Treat Bags (#144255) help make your gift packaging come together quickly while making those smaller gifts feel special. I used Versamark Ink and Gold Embossing powder to emboss the “No Peeking” from our Merry Little Labels stamp set.

I dipped the tips of our Green Sprigs (#144627) into our Embossing Paste (#141979) to look like snow. Add a 1/4 Foil Snowflake, and a bow made from our Red Tinsel Trim (#144636) and you’ve almost got your packaging finished. I attached the foil Snowflake & Green Sprig onto the tag with a staple, the bow with a glue dot & put the gift inside, folded over the top of the bag and clipped the tag on using one of our Gold Library Clips (#144130).

Just imagine these sitting on a table, with greenery and white lights, ready to give to friends as they stop by during the holidays!

How about making the gift everyone wants a little extra special this year? This is a quick Gift Card holder and card in one! You could give a gift card in the simple, plain folder you can get with it at the store but why not make it special? I used the Carols of Christmas stamp set (#144804) and our Be Merry Designer Series Paper (#144111). The colors of ink are Cherry Cobbler & Garden Green with Cherry Cobbler cardstock as the card base.

I will be sharing a video on how to make this holder Tuesday so be sure to come back to see how you can make these and have them ready to fill. I know your friends and family will be in awe when they see all your hand made gift packaging under your tree this year!

Be sure to check out Susan’s project!

At Home with You Bundle SBTD Hop 9/2017

The At Home with You and Colorful Seasons Bundles were shouting my name as the morning air is crisp and and the fall colors are beginning to show earlier than normal this year. I felt these bundles were perfect for this month’s SBTD Blog Hop Theme, Leaves and Trees. We are 12 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world bringing you assorted projects each month. Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this post to watch a video about the At Home With You Bundle!

At Home with You Bundle #145351
Colorful Seasons Bundle #145348

My card base is Very Vanilla cut to 5 1/4″ x 8″ and then scored at 4″. I used the leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set to create a background paper for the 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ paper strip. The colors I used for the leaves are Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Crushed Curry and Early Espresso for the veins. I backed this strip with a piece of 2″ x 5 1/4″ Early Espresso cardstock.

I felt the card needed more texture so I added the splatter image from Swirly Bird in Crushed Curry along the tip edge of the card and opposite corners of the image mat. The bouquet of sunflowers in the bucket from the At Home with You Bundle was my inspiration for my card and make the perfect focal point. Sunflowers are my favorite fall flower and I continued the color theme when water coloring them. The bucket is colored using Crumb Cake for the bucket and Smokey Slate for the metal rings. I added a bit of sparkle by adding Clear Wink of Stella to the rings. I then cut the image out using the Seasonal Layer Thinlit Dies, gotta love thilits! I then popped the image up with our new Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I felt the image needed grounding so I cut a branch from Early Espresso by using the die from the Colorful Seasons Bundle. The Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive 1/4″ Stitch Ribbon are a perfect touch.

The verse I chose is also one from the Colorful Seasons stamp set however, the At Home with You set also has verses that could be used for this card that can be used for an assortment of fall occasions.
